Tesla Cybertruck has pleased consumers with several new features that expand the possibilities for its use. One of these is bidirectional charging, called Powershare. and is the first time Tesla has included bidirectional charging in its cars.

The new feature promises to redefine the electric vehicle landscape, offering vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-home (V2H), and even vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities. As explained by the manufacturer, Cybertrucks equipped with Powershare technology have onboard electronics that unlock the battery’s ability to provide power whenever you need it. If you need to power a construction site, a pre-game tailgate, another electric vehicle, or your home during an outage, your Tesla vehicle with Powershare has your back.

Powershare V2L functionality allows Cybertruck to power equipment through outlets located in the vehicle. You can use various construction tools, or even consumer electronics such as a coffee machine, while camping. Additionally, access to outlets can provide emergency assistance if needed. Cybertruck has a continuous power output of 9.6 kW through five outlets.

Cybertruck’s V2H system takes bidirectional charging to the next level. It offers an impressive power output of 11.5 kW. This feature allows Cybertruck to serve as a power source for homes during outages or network instability. In recent years, as we observe climate change, such an opportunity is extremely necessary. You probably would not use it often, but if you happen to need it, you will get it with Cybertruck. Tesla said Powershare can power a home for more than three days, assuming an average daily consumption of 30 kWh. This is an impressive result, highlighting the usefulness of the feature and Cybertruck.

Connection to your home is via a wall connector so you do not need any additional equipment. When connected to your home, you get a massive energy storage unit using Cybertruck’s battery capacity. It will work like Powerwall, Tesla’s home energy storage solution. Powerwalls have repeatedly proven their usefulness during power outages in various events.

Cybertruck’s ability to charge other electric vehicles is also extremely useful. The electric pickup truck can “share” its charge with other electric vehicles if the need arises. This may be especially true when you are away from charging stations. Although electric vehicle owners usually think through their routes, unforeseen situations do happen. While they can access the grid while in cities or towns, they do not have this opportunity while camping. This is where Cybertruck can come to the rescue, recharging an electric vehicle in need.

The appearance of V2V charging in Cybertruck also hints that such a capability will be integrated into future Tesla models. This will further expand the manufacturer’s ecosystem, making electric vehicles a strong pillar of it.
