Tesla delivered the first Cybertrucks to its customers on Thursday. The event took place at the Texas Gigafactory and attracted many fans of the company from all over the world. During the Delivery Event, Elon Musk revealed details about the steel beast and long-awaited pricing.
The first question that most interested consumers was about the price. According to the information provided, the most affordable version, Rear-Wheel-Drive, costs $60,990. Dual-Motor All-Wheel-Drive is priced at $79,990. The most powerful version, the Tri-Motor “Cyberbeast” costs $99,990.
An equally important question was related to Cybertruck’s range. According to the information provided, the range for Rear-Wheel-Drive is 250 miles, for Dual-Motor All-Wheel-Drive 340 miles, and for the Tri-Motor “Cyberbeast,” 320 miles. Meanwhile, Dual-Motor and Tri-Motor versions can have their range extended. For Dual-Motor, the increase adds an impressive 130 miles. This means the truck will be able to travel 470 miles on a single charge. For Tri-Motor, the extension adds 120 miles, up to 440 miles. This will be possible thanks to the optional battery pack, which can be installed in the bed, according to Musk’s post on X.
Musk also said that Cybertruck’s body is made of a special stainless steel alloy. It is in-house developed and provides both strength and the ability to produce car parts without breaking production equipment. It is not susceptible to corrosion and does not require painting.
Cybertruck has undergone many strength tests, which were also demonstrated in videos. It remained without a single scratch after an arrow shot. In addition, the body handled Tommy Gun shots superbly. Although small dents remained, none of the bullets penetrated the door. This capability makes Cybertruck highly desirable to police departments around the world, and other features only add to the desire to own one.
A very interesting moment was the demonstration of Cybertruck crash tests. The vehicle performed the rollover test with excellence. During a side impact, the doors provided such strong protection that they did not even arch from impact. In a head-on collision, the sheet of steel located in front of the Cybertruck bent and served as an additional absorber of impact force.
Tesla also displayed demonstrations of key features that are of interest to many fans. In one of the videos, Cybertruck was towing SpaceX’s Raptor engine, demonstrating its ability to tow 11,000 pounds. The track bed is covered with special composite materials. This means that it does not need to be additionally protected with a lining to carry loads that could scratch it. In one of the videos, Cybertruck was completely loaded with soil without issue.
In the pull test, Cybertruck completed a 40,000-pound pull at 318 feet. This is significantly more than competitors also tested by the company including a Rivian R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Ford F-350 diesel.
Cybertruck has adjustable air suspension, allowing for up to a massive 17 inches of ground clearance giving the truck impressive off-road capabilities. The Steer-By-Wire feature has been added to Cybertruck, making it easier to drive in tight spaces. It provides the truck with high wheel maneuverability at low speeds and reduces steering angle at high speeds.
Tesla demonstrated Cybertruck’s performance by putting it on the track against a 2023 Porsche 911. The results were impressive. Not only did Cybertruck finish first in the 1/4-mile race, but it did so while towing another Porsche 911. In other words, it towed a Porsche 911 faster than a Porsche 911 on its own power. According to the revealed specs, the Rear-Wheel-Drive Cybertruck accelerates from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds, the Dual-Motor All-Wheel- Drive in 3.9 seconds, and the Tri-Motor “Cyberbeast” in a stunning 2.6 seconds.
