For our newly announced Nürburgring activities, we’ve selected to work with our longtime trusted industry partners from ATOMIC
While we’re firmly established at several legendary racetracks in the United States and Japan, there was one famed racetrack that we have always set our sights on the Nürburgring. The famed proving grounds for both racing drivers and cars, this legendary racetrack is the benchmark for performance and track times for both street & race vehicles.
The Nürburgring is a 150,000 person capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984, and a much longer Nordschleife “North loop” track which was built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg. Located in the Eifel mountains, this is one of the most beautiful parts of Germany and the place of some important historical events and record-breaking runs. The famed north loop – or Greem Hell, as the Jackie Stewart, a legendary race drive called it – is 20.8 km (12.9 mi) long track and has more than 300 meters (1,000 feet) of elevation change from its lowest to highest points.
Originally, the track featured four configurations: the 28.265 km (17.563 mi)-long Gesamtstrecke (“Whole Course”), which in turn consisted of the 22.810 km (14.173 mi) Nordschleife (“North Loop”), and the 7.747 km (4.814 mi) Südschleife (“South Loop”). There also was a 2.281 km (1.417 mi) warm-up loop called Zielschleife (“Finish Loop”) or Betonschleife (“Concrete Loop”), around the pit area.
The modern-day Nürburgring track is the home to various racing events, ranging from the Formula 1 Grand Prix using the smaller track, all the way to the fun & exciting 24 Hours of Nürburgring weekend, seeing competitors in every possible race vehicle competing for the grand prix prize. In the end, it’s the fact that the automotive media and manufacturers use the Nordschleife as a standard to publish their lap times achieved with their production vehicles that make this such a popular race track. It’s only logical to have a full Unplugged Performance showroom located at this venue.
Today we announce the opening of our Unplugged Performance Nürburgring operations. Our retail showroom is located at the world-famous Nürburgring Boulevard. UP products are already there in stock and available for ordering. Installation service appointments are now open at our Nürburgring based workshop. We are offering full Tesla race car support, track-side car storage, and custom car builds directly at our Nürburgring location. As well we will soon be producing and displaying a German market spec Unplugged Performance Ascension-R Model 3 complete car build.
For our newly announced Nürburgring activities, we’ve selected to work with our longtime trusted industry partners from ATOMIC. We’ve worked with ATOMIC for more than a decade (our pre-Tesla background is GT-R tuning) and we have witnessed firsthand their incredible experience and history with building and supporting hundreds of top-level race cars. Our Nürburgring plans will utilize ATOMIC’s extensive knowledge and deep connections at the Nürburgring as we develop complete cars, develop our products, and support UP customers at the Nürburgring. We start this plan not from zero, but with the direct support of Nürburgring’s best! We are looking forward to our customers and fans visiting the showroom and meeting the ATOMIC/UP Nurburgring team!
This complete car will be available at our Nürburgring Boulevard location for media testing and as a demo vehicle for our Ascension and Ascension-R complete car programs. Even though COVID-19 is rampaging in Europe as well, our showroom is open and ready for you, our deared customer. However, for service appointments, product inquiries, or media, please contact us prior to visiting so we can reserve a time for you. In turn, our German outlet personnel will be able to accommodate you with all the health & safety precautions prior to your visit.
We’re looking forward to 2021 when the global pandemic (hopefully) subsidies and we’ll be able to get our Model 3 Ascension-R cars in greater numbers on this exciting racetrack.
