Q: What is a Beadlock?
A beadlock is a specialized device used on wheels, primarily in off-road and racing vehicles, to secure the tire’s bead (the inner edge of the tire) to the wheel rim. It is designed to prevent the tire from slipping or coming off the rim during low tire pressures, which is common in off-road driving when vehicles need to deflate their tires for better traction on rough terrain, such as sand, mud, or rocks.
How a Beadlock works:
A beadlock consists of an inner ring and an outer ring that clamp down on the tire’s bead, holding it firmly in place on the wheel. This prevents the tire from separating from the wheel, especially when the tire is under low pressure, which would otherwise cause the bead to unseat under heavy loads, impacts, or extreme cornering forces.

Beadlock Wheels:
- Beadlock wheels have an additional ring that bolts around the edge of the rim. The tire’s bead is placed between the rim and the beadlock ring, and bolts are tightened to clamp the tire in place.
- These wheels are usually found in rugged off-road vehicles, rock crawlers, and some motorsport applications where wheel integrity under extreme conditions is critical.

This definitely helps cool down my drive unit quicker. I'm able to run a hot lap at the track, then a single cooldown lap to bring the drivetrain temperature back into the green. It was awesome seeing it cool down within a lap at Buttonwillow.
