Our advanced Model S Plaid suspension development and racing kicked off in June 2021 with our race car Dark Helmet as we set out to develop the ultimate performance handling Model S. The results have followed as we brought home to the Tesla community a Pikes Peak class victory and multiple production based EV lap records with our development race car. In the months that followed we’ve gone into production with a premium range of suspension components that can be purchased individually or as a comprehensive lineup depending on the goals of each driver. All of our suspension development begins with precision 3D scanning of the car’s suspension to develop a working digital model, then followed by real-world racing and street use internally on our company vehicles before roll out to the public. Our history, race results and industry-leading warranty provide peace of mind that these are the best money can buy.

Which Model S trims and years take this lower fore link?
Any 2021 through 2026+ Model S, Plaid or Long Range, since both use the same refreshed rear suspension. It is not a pre-2021 component, because the 5-link rear arrived with the updated car. A Plaid and a Long Range from 2021 onward both take it, and the lower arm set drops into the lower fore position as a direct replacement.
What is this arm made of and how strong is it?
It is CNC-milled from 6061 aluminum for maximum strength while saving weight, and it was FEA-simulation optimized to ensure superior static, dynamic, and fatigue strength before it went into production. The sealed spherical bushings add precision and durability with silent operation. Development began with a precise 3D scan of the suspension, then validation through real racing and street use on our own vehicles.
Is this a fix for worn bushings or a performance part?
It is primarily a performance and precision upgrade rather than a wear cure. The front lower compliance arms exist mainly to solve the knocking and slop of worn factory bushings; this rear lower link is chosen to tighten how the rear locates under load. The spherical bushings do outlast rubber, so durability comes along for the ride. Owners fit it to sharpen a healthy car, not to silence a worn-out one.
Should I buy this alone or with the other rear links?
It works on its own, but we recommend running the full rear suite for the best result: the adjustable camber and toe arms, the trailing arm, the upper fore traction arm, and the adjustable sway bar. Fitting them together means a single install and alignment, with a rear end where every link is billet and located rather than a mix. The complete suspension package bundles all of it if you want the whole thing at once.
Can I install this rear lower arm myself?
A capable home mechanic with a lift and hand tools can manage a single rear link, and it ships the next business day. Book a rear alignment afterward, particularly if you are also fitting the adjustable camber and toe arms. Owners in the Los Angeles area can have our Hawthorne team install the rear set and align it in one visit, which keeps the job clean and the alignment correct.
What difference will I actually feel from this arm?
The rear feels more locked down and immediate, especially under acceleration and quick direction changes, because the wheel is no longer riding on flexing rubber. On a car making up to 1,020hp, that firmer rear location translates into a more planted, predictable feel when you load it up. The change is subtle solo and more obvious as part of a full rear refresh, where every link is working together.
Where did this arm come from?
It grew out of our Model S Plaid race program on Dark Helmet, which kicked off in June 2021 and delivered a Pikes Peak class victory along with multiple production-based EV lap records. The links that made that car fast are the ones we productized. Our race history and our warranty are why we describe these as the best money can buy for the rear of a 2021+ Model S.
Is swapping in a billet lower fore link going to jeopardize Tesla coverage?
No, not on its own. Magnuson-Moss requires Tesla to prove the arm caused a specific failure before it can deny a related warranty claim, so installing it is not grounds for a blanket denial. Keep the factory links you remove so you can return to stock if you ever want to. The arm is also backed by our own suspension warranty, so running it long term is not a gamble.
What is the rear lower fore link and why upgrade it?
It is one of the five links locating the rear hub on the 2021+ Model S, sitting at the lower forward position. The factory link uses rubber bushings that deflect under load, which softens the rear’s response and lets alignment shift. This billet lower arm swaps in sealed spherical bushings and a stronger, lighter body, so the rear stays located and the handling feel sharpens without adding cabin noise.
What does this replace on the car?
It replaces Tesla part number 1420441-00-D, the rear lower fore link, two per car, with a CNC-milled billet aluminum version. The upgraded sealed spherical bushings deliver both silent operation and better handling feel and durability compared to the soft factory rubber. Tesla’s 2021+ 5-link rear is a strong starting point, and this is our re-engineered link for owners who want the rear to feel tight and precise.
Will upgrading my brakes void the Tesla warranty?
Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. That said, any damage directly caused by misuse or improper installation may not be covered. We recommend retaining all factory parts so you can revert to stock if needed. Many Tesla owners enjoy peace of mind by using Unplugged Performance products, which are extensively tested and installed by certified professionals. If warranty concerns are top-of-mind, our team can help clarify compatibility and installation best practices to ensure a worry-free experience.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
