Q: What is Lexan and why use it instead of glass?

Lexan is a lightweight polycarbonate used in place of heavy automotive glass to cut weight. On this application each panel weighs roughly half its factory glass counterpart, which is why swapping the front doors, rear doors, and rear windshield removes about 23.5lbs total. Less mass, especially up high in the body, lowers the car’s effective center of gravity and is why this is aimed at track and race use rather than daily comfort.
