Q: Does a full roof rack hurt range or add much weight?
Any roof load adds aerodynamic drag and weight, so expect some efficiency cost with a fully loaded rack, as with any truck. We keep the rails to heavy-duty steel where strength is needed while using thinner gauge material in less critical spots to avoid piling on mass. Running fewer rails or removing the light bar when you don’t need it trims the penalty.
