2021+ Tesla Model X / Plaid – Sports Dynamic Air Suspension Upgrade (Lowering) Kit

It fits the 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid, both of which use the same Bilstein-damped air suspension. We developed our understanding of this system partnering with Bilstein on our Pikes Peak class-winning Model S Plaid race car, then brought the same approach to the Model X. On some cars, yes, and we state it plainly. Because of Tesla’s factory software calibration variances, certain vehicles show a visual ‘Suspension may not be level’ message after install. That visual warning does not affect drivability and many owners accept it. If your car also produces an audible chime with the warning, we recommend uninstalling and returning the kit, since that condition may not resolve on its own. There is no way to know in advance which cars are affected.

Yes. This kit adjusts ride height, not damping. The 2021+ Model X comes with Bilstein dampers that vary stiffness in real time based on driving data, and that behavior carries on unchanged. You are lowering where the car sits, not replacing the shocks. That is a big part of why the everyday ride stays intact.

Because it works through brackets rather than a full strut swap, a capable home installer can manage it. Fitting a lowering kit does not automatically void factory coverage. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act means Tesla has to show that the kit caused a specific failure before denying that claim, not simply point at its presence. We suggest keeping your original hardware so you can return to stock if you ever want to. Note the soft-code warning above is a known behavior, not a defect.

It helps a little, through reduced aerodynamic drag. A lower body meets the air slightly more cleanly at speed, and on a large SUV every bit of drag reduction counts toward efficiency. Treat it as a welcome side benefit rather than the main reason to buy. The handling and stance improvements are the bigger draws for most owners.

You change how the factory air system references ride height rather than swapping springs. This Sports Dynamic kit bumps each factory setting down one level, so the Model X sits lower at every height while the air suspension keeps working normally. You still get the automatic height changes and the raise function for driveways. The car drops without losing the everyday practicality that makes air suspension worth having.

Three things. It drops the center of gravity, which sharpens handling on a tall SUV; it cuts aerodynamic drag a little, which helps range; and yes, it looks sleeker. On a vehicle as large as the Model X, the center-of-gravity change is the one you feel most in the corners. The kit is priced at $407.09, down from $495.00.

Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.

Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts.
