Tesla Model X / Model X Plaid (2021+) Billet Rear Trailing Arm Set (Lower Aft Link)
Our advanced Model X Plaid suspension development and racing kicked off in June 2021 with our race car Dark Helmet as we set out to develop the ultimate performance handling Model S. The results have followed as we brought home to the Tesla community a Pikes Peak class victory and multiple production based EV lap records with our development race car. In the months that followed we’ve gone into production with a premium range of suspension components that can be purchased individually or as a comprehensive lineup depending on the goals of each driver. All of our suspension development begins with precision 3D scanning of the car’s suspension to develop a working digital model, then followed by real-world racing and street use internally on our company vehicles before roll out to the public. Our history, race results and industry-leading warranty provide peace of mind that these are the best money can buy.

Do these fit both the Model X and Model X Plaid from 2021 on?
Yes. They are made for the 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid, which use an all-new five-link rear suspension that we re-engineered for performance driving. The set replaces Tesla part number 1420452-99-C, the rear lower aft link. Confirm your car is a 2021 or newer Model X before ordering.
Will spherical bushings make my Model X noisy or harsh on the street?
No. These use sealed spherical bushings specifically chosen for silent operation alongside the precision gain, so you get tighter response without the rattle or harshness some solid bushings bring. The sealing also protects them for daily-driven durability. It is a street-friendly way to firm up the rear.
Were these developed on a real race car?
Yes. Our Model X Plaid suspension program began in June 2021 with our race car Dark Helmet, and it brought home a Pikes Peak class victory and multiple production-based EV lap records. Development starts with precision 3D scanning of the suspension to build a digital model, then real racing and street use on our own cars before public release.
Can I install these myself, or is a shop better?
Rear suspension link work is within reach for an experienced DIYer with a lift and the right tools, but the bushings come already mounted to simplify the job. If you would rather have it done, our Hawthorne team or an authorized installer can fit them. An alignment afterward is a good idea any time you touch rear links.
Should I upgrade just this arm or do the full rear suspension?
You can start with the trailing arm on its own, but we recommend pairing it with the full rear suite for the best result. That includes the Billet Rear Traction Arm Set (Upper Fore Link), the Billet Rear Lower Arm Set (Lower Fore Link), and the adjustable camber and toe arms. Doing the set gives a consistent, fully re-engineered rear end.
How is the billet arm better than just replacing the factory link with another OEM part?
A like-for-like OEM replacement brings back the same soft rubber bushing and the same eventual slop. This billet arm upgrades the material to stronger, lighter aluminum and swaps in sealed spherical bushings for lasting precision. You fix the problem instead of resetting the clock on it.
What does the industry-leading warranty cover on these arms?
Unplugged Performance backs its parts and installs against defects in materials and workmanship, with coverage that applies when the component is fitted by us or an authorized partner. Combined with the racing development history and lap records behind these links, that support is meant to give confidence that they are the best money can buy. Contact our service team to start any claim.
Will fitting billet suspension arms void my Model X warranty?
Installing them does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Tesla would have to show, under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, that the arms caused a specific failure to deny a related claim. Because these are engineered for the 2021+ platform and can be professionally installed, the practical risk stays low. Keeping your factory links lets you revert if you ever need to.
What does the rear trailing arm do on a Model X, and why upgrade it?
The lower aft link locates the rear wheel fore and aft as the suspension moves, so its stiffness directly affects how precise and planted the rear feels. This billet set replaces the standard link with a stronger, lighter billet aluminum version running sealed spherical bushings. The result is sharper handling feel and quieter, more durable operation than the soft factory bushing.
What are these arms made from?
They are CNC-milled from 6061 aluminum for maximum strength while saving weight, and they are FEA-simulation optimized for static, dynamic, and fatigue strength. The sealed spherical bushings give precision and durability with silent operation. This is billet construction, not a rubber-bushing stamped part.
Will upgrading my brakes void the Tesla warranty?
Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. That said, any damage directly caused by misuse or improper installation may not be covered. We recommend retaining all factory parts so you can revert to stock if needed. Many Tesla owners enjoy peace of mind by using Unplugged Performance products, which are extensively tested and installed by certified professionals. If warranty concerns are top-of-mind, our team can help clarify compatibility and installation best practices to ensure a worry-free experience.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
