Product Details
Engineered for ultimate aerodynamic performance. What does that mean? For any high-performance electric vehicle, that means focusing on both efficiency and downforce to maximize cornering while minimizing energy used and motor heat produced from acceleration into wind resistance. We want to work against the air as little as possible. Air resistance is exponential and incredibly strong as speeds increase. With the 200mph potential of the Plaid platform, we feel that this is a critical modification for safety and performance for those that will use the car on track or on the autobahn. Constructed in autoclaved dry carbon fiber with extra layers for durability, this front diffuser is designed to reduce the amount of air flowing under the vehicle and smooth airflow around the front tires and does so very effectively.

UP Carbon parts are engineered using advanced prepreg-autoclave technology with our proprietary dry-carbon-kevlar backing layer. This superior method, with resin integrated during production, delivers exceptional strength-to-weight performance compared to traditional wet-layup or vacuum infusion methods.

What does a front diffuser do on a Model S Plaid?
It manages the air under the front of the car. The Autobahn diffuser reduces how much air flows beneath the vehicle and smooths the flow around the front tires, which cuts front lift at high speed. Less front lift means the nose stays planted and steering stays trustworthy at speed. On a 200-mph-capable Plaid, that front-end stability is a safety item, not a styling one. It also comes paired with the rear spoiler in the full Model S aero package for balanced front-to-rear aero.
What are the Aero Pads and why would I change them?
The diffuser uses removable, replaceable carbon fiber Aero Pads that set how low the leading edge runs. Choose the taller 16mm race pad for a track-focused, aggressive setup, the 8mm street pad for daily ground clearance, or split the difference with the half-height pad. As the pads wear they protect the diffuser itself, and you swap them instead of replacing the whole part.
Does this fit every 2021+ Model S, including the S-APEX?
Yes, it fits all 2021 and newer Model S variants: Plaid, Long Range, and the S-APEX. The mounting uses the original hardware plus 3M automotive tape, so it is a no-drill install across the lineup. It is also designed to allow more aggressive wheel and tire packages with less airflow disruption, which suits both street and track builds.
Can I install the diffuser myself?
It is a no-drill job that reuses your original mounting hardware along with 3M tape, so it is one of the more approachable carbon installs. Clean the area, fit the pads you want, and mount it. If you would rather have it set precisely, or you are adding it alongside other aero, our LA team can install it and give you a quote.
Does the diffuser work with the brake cooling duct kit?
It does. The Autobahn diffuser is designed to be compatible with the Unplugged Performance Racing Brake Duct Kit, so track-focused owners can run both without them fighting each other for airflow. Pairing them gives you cleaner front aero and cooler brakes in the same package, which is the setup you want for repeated high-speed stops.
Street pads versus race pads, which height should I run?
It comes down to how you use the car. The 8mm street pad keeps ground clearance for daily driving and steep driveways. The 16mm race pad drops the leading edge for maximum front downforce on smooth track surfaces but is easier to scrape. The half-height option is the middle ground. Because pads are swappable, you are not locked in and can change as your driving changes.
How is the Autobahn diffuser built to survive track use?
It is full prepreg dry carbon fiber, produced in an autoclave, with extra layers and a Bulletproof carbon Kevlar reinforcement for durability. Air resistance climbs exponentially with speed, so a front aero part takes real load on a fast car. The Kevlar backing and added laminate help it endure that, and the sacrificial Aero Pads take the abuse at the leading edge.
Will a front diffuser reduce my range?
The whole design goal here is efficiency alongside downforce, so it is shaped to work against the air as little as possible while still cutting front lift. Reducing air under the car and smoothing flow around the tires is generally efficiency-friendly. Any range effect is minor, and for a car used hard on track or the autobahn, the stability and cooler motor benefits matter more.
Do the finish options affect durability?
No. Gloss and satin are both base coat finishes over the same carbon structure; gloss shows the weave with shine, satin gives a flatter, contemporary look. The structural part is identical. Note that the base coat is a foundation, so warranty excludes cosmetic UV fade or chips on unprotected parts. Add clear coat or PPF if you want the finish safeguarded.
What warranty covers this diffuser?
There is a 5 year structural warranty on fitment and functionality for the original owner, covering the part performing and fitting the car. Cosmetic outcomes on an unprotected base coat, like fading or rock chips, sit outside that coverage. It is built to accept professional clear coating and paint protection if you want to keep the surface pristine over years of use.

Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days. Larger items like body kits or bumpers may ship via freight carriers with curbside delivery; customers will be contacted to schedule a delivery window. International shipping is available to most countries, with shipping costs calculated at checkout. Delivery times abroad vary, generally ranging from 5 to 16 business days depending on destination. Import duties or taxes are the customer’s responsibility. To ensure a smooth shipping experience, provide accurate contact information during checkout. For specific questions or shipping quotes, Unplugged Performance’s support team is available to assist.
