2021+ Model X Plaid / Model X – Superlight Rear Large-Sweep Carbon Ceramic Rotor + Pad Kit

The rotors are 365×28 mm, the same dimensions as the factory rear rotor, but built from carbon silicon carbide ceramic. They fit all 2021+ Model X Plaid and Long Range vehicles in any factory wheel configuration, including 19-inch wheels. The wider sweep sits inside the same footprint, so it clears any factory Model X wheel as well as every Unplugged Performance wheel and every aftermarket 19-inch or larger wheel we have seen. Early carbon ceramic rotors from names like Ferrari and Porsche earned a reputation for squealing and being cranky when cold, but the latest generation has moved past that. We have found our carbon ceramic systems quieter than any iron system we have tried with performance pads, and they work well from boiling track days to frozen mountain roads.

They carry a lifetime warranty against rotor wear for the original purchaser, non-transferable, and it includes unlimited track use. The rotor uses no separate friction layer, so there is no downtime to send it in for re-infusion or servicing. Clients have raced multiple full seasons on a single set of pads with no rotor changes.

You can add the rears on their own for the weight and efficiency gains, but we strongly recommend pairing them with the Superlight Carbon Ceramic Front Big Brake Kit, which includes our brake lines. You choose between Street & Track Day pads and Racing/Competition pads at checkout. The Model X Plaid is decelerating around 5,000 lb repeatedly, so trimming 16 lb of rotating unsprung weight at the rear sharpens response and helps the suspension track the road. Lower rotating inertia also aids acceleration and efficiency. On a heavy performance SUV, every pound off the rotating assembly counts twice.

The kit includes all components necessary for installation. The one thing you add is high-performance brake fluid, which any automotive parts retailer carries, since a carbon ceramic system needs proper high-temp fluid to perform its best. We recommend professional installation and a correct bed-in procedure to seat the pads and rotors before you lean on them.

Installing them does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Tesla would need to show, under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, that the kit caused a specific failure to deny a related claim. Since these are engineered to work with your Model X and can be professionally installed, the practical risk is low. Retaining your factory rotors lets you revert if you ever need to.
