Lightness. Stopping Power. Lifetime warranty. The carbon ceramic (carbon-silicon carbide) rotors developed for this new kit dramatically lighten the rotating mass to the tune of 16lbs of weight savings, while providing improved stopping power and endless brake life. The Tesla Model S Plaid is one of the fastest street cars on earth and decelerating 5000 lbs quickly, repeatedly and with consistent driver confidence is a big challenge. Pushing your Plaid anywhere near its limits requires a braking system that can take a beating from high-weight-high-g-force stops exerting incredible forces again and again and again. These brakes are designed to take constant abuse and keep on providing consistent stops when paired with appropriate high-temp racing brake fluids.

2021+ Model X Plaid / Model X – Superlight Rear Large-Sweep Carbon Ceramic Rotor + Pad Kit
Fit your Tesla Model X Plaid or Long Range with this high-performance and high-efficiency rear brake upgrade. Compatible with 19″ and above wheels, these brakes drop a massive 16lbs of rotational weight, provide a 19% increase pad/rotor surface area, and provide performance improvements no matter your tire preference or type of driving. Whether your aim is maximum attack on the track, posting the fastest drag strip times at your local drag night, or maximizing efficiency and acceleration on the street, these are all upside. Rear carbon ceramics without compromise.
Carbon ceramic braking technology is leveraged by modern hypercars and supercars to provide the ultimate in stopping power, combined with the unique characteristics of carbon which include lightweight, light-wearing, and long component life. Early-generation carbon-ceramic rotors from manufacturers such as Ferrari and Porsche earned a reputation for being squeaky and cranky in cold weather, these problems have been overcome with the latest generation carbon-ceramic technology. We are proud to say that our carbon-ceramic brake systems are quieter than any iron system we have tried with performance pads and perform well in all conditions from boiling hot track days to frozen mountain roads.
Specifications:
- Lifetime warranty against rotor wear (for original purchaser, non-transferable). We guarantee these rotors will last as long as you own your vehicle and we will replace them for free if they need replacement. This INCLUDES unlimited track use! Pad replacement is both affordable and infrequent compared to iron rotors.
- Large 56mm sweep annulus carbon-ceramic (carbon-silicon carbide) rotor paired with oversized Large Sweep brake pads allows for more pad-to-rotor surface contact in the same physical dimensions to easily fit 19″ wheels. The 56mm sweep is 19% more than the factory rear rotor’s 47mm annulus.
- Newest rotor technology with the highest friction available
- The rotor utilizes no separate friction layer with maximum durability for a lifetime warranty of use. This ensures no future need for downtime to send in friction layer for servicing/re-infusion.
- UP x PFC brake pads are designed and extensively brake dyno as well as field tested specifically for use with carbon-ceramic rotors, and are compatible with daily street use and hardcore track driving.
- Fits all Tesla Model X Plaid and Model X Long Range 2021+ vehicles in any factory wheel configuration including 19″ inch wheels
- Long-lasting brakes can stand up to consistent performance driving and track use. Clients have raced multiple full seasons on a single set of pads and no rotor changes.
- 16lbs reduction (38% less) of rotational unsprung weight for better feel and improved efficiency. Factory rear rotors are 41lbs combined, these are 25lbs
- Kit includes all components necessary for installation (high-performance brake fluid will need to be supplied by the buyer, and can be purchased at any automotive parts retailer). We strongly recommend pairing your rear kit with our Super Light Carbon Ceramic Front Big Brake Kit (BBK) which includes our brake lines)
- Designed to fit Tesla 19″ Tempest and 21″ Arachnid wheels as well as all Unplugged Performance wheels and every aftermarket 19″ or larger wheel that we have seen.

What size are these rear rotors and how much weight do they save?
The rotors are 365×28 mm, the same dimensions as the factory rear rotor, but built from carbon silicon carbide ceramic. They cut 16 lb of rotating mass, a 38 percent reduction, coming in at 25 lb for the pair versus 41 lb for the factory rotors. That drop in unsprung and rotating weight improves feel and efficiency.
How do these fit a larger rear rotor’s braking into the same space?
By using a wider sweep. The 56mm sweep annulus is 19 percent larger than the factory rear rotor’s 47mm annulus, paired with oversized Large Sweep pads for more pad-to-rotor contact in the same physical footprint. That is what lets the kit fit inside 19-inch wheels while adding braking surface.
What wheels do these rear carbon ceramics fit on a Model X?
They fit all 2021+ Model X Plaid and Long Range vehicles in any factory wheel configuration, including 19-inch wheels. The wider sweep sits inside the same footprint, so it clears any factory Model X wheel as well as every Unplugged Performance wheel and every aftermarket 19-inch or larger wheel we have seen. Anything 19 inches and up clears.
Are carbon ceramic brakes noisy or bad in cold weather?
Early carbon ceramic rotors from names like Ferrari and Porsche earned a reputation for squealing and being cranky when cold, but the latest generation has moved past that. We have found our carbon ceramic systems quieter than any iron system we have tried with performance pads, and they work well from boiling track days to frozen mountain roads.
Do these rear rotors really last a lifetime?
They carry a lifetime warranty against rotor wear for the original purchaser, non-transferable, and it includes unlimited track use. The rotor uses no separate friction layer, so there is no downtime to send it in for re-infusion or servicing. Clients have raced multiple full seasons on a single set of pads with no rotor changes.
Should I run these with the front kit or on their own?
You can add the rears on their own for the weight and efficiency gains, but we strongly recommend pairing them with the Superlight Carbon Ceramic Front Big Brake Kit, which includes our brake lines. Balancing the chassis front to rear is where the full benefit shows up for lap times, drag times, or street efficiency alike.
Which pad option should I pick for these rear rotors?
You choose between Street & Track Day pads and Racing/Competition pads at checkout. Both are UP x PFC compounds designed and brake-dyno tested specifically for carbon ceramic rotors, so they are compatible with daily street use and hard track driving. Street & Track suits most Model X owners; if this kit is more brake than you need, the Stage 1 Essential Brake Kit is the entry point.
Why does saving rear rotating weight matter on a car this heavy?
The Model X Plaid is decelerating around 5,000 lb repeatedly, so trimming 16 lb of rotating unsprung weight at the rear sharpens response and helps the suspension track the road. Lower rotating inertia also aids acceleration and efficiency. On a heavy performance SUV, every pound off the rotating assembly counts twice.
What is in the kit, and do I need to buy anything else?
The kit includes all components necessary for installation. The one thing you add is high-performance brake fluid, which any automotive parts retailer carries, since a carbon ceramic system needs proper high-temp fluid to perform its best. We recommend professional installation and a correct bed-in procedure to seat the pads and rotors before you lean on them.
Will fitting these rear carbon ceramics affect my Tesla warranty?
Installing them does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Tesla would need to show, under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, that the kit caused a specific failure to deny a related claim. Since these are engineered to work with your Model X and can be professionally installed, the practical risk is low. Retaining your factory rotors lets you revert if you ever need to.
Will upgrading my brakes void the Tesla warranty?
Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. That said, any damage directly caused by misuse or improper installation may not be covered. We recommend retaining all factory parts so you can revert to stock if needed. Many Tesla owners enjoy peace of mind by using Unplugged Performance products, which are extensively tested and installed by certified professionals. If warranty concerns are top-of-mind, our team can help clarify compatibility and installation best practices to ensure a worry-free experience.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.Â
