Product Details
The UP x PFC Rear Large Sweep Brake Kit is designed to maximize braking performance by increasing the rotor and pad contact patch while utilizing the factory Tesla brake calipers. Clever packaging is a key attribute of these kits which is made possible by integrated PFC x UP brake pad/rotor engineering. The pad sweep increase is gained by utilizing a wider annulus rotor and an appropriately sized larger brake pad to increase the contact patch.
Our engineering ethos around maximizing results with creative integrated engineering keeps rotational mass at a minimum while maximizing brake pad contact area, rotor thickness and therefore maximizing the thermal capacity of the factory calipers.
The rotors included have a world-class pedigree and come from PFC’s Porsche 911 GT3R race car program. They utilize PFC’s patented V3 hats which require no bolts in their hyper-efficient attachment to the rotor. PFC is UP’s exclusive brake partner and is world-renowned for being the global brake upgrade partner chosen by Porsche Motorsports for Porsche competition race cars. PFC engineering and production boasts the highest quality materials to stand up to the harshest of uses on the track. For all of our brake upgrades for Tesla Model X Plaid or Model X we recommend pairing them with high-temperature racing brake fluid such as Motul RBF 660, PFC RH 665, Endless RF 650, Castrol SRF, or similar racing brake fluids and our Stainless Steel Brake Lines.
- UP x PFC Rear Rotor and Pad combination offers 55mm of sweep vs factory 47mm.
- Efficient 2pc lightweight engineering that is approx. 40% lighter
- Maximum thermal mass and maximum pad contact/sweep on the stock caliper
- No caliper relocation is required
- We recommend pairing any of our brake upgrades with our UP Stainless Steel Brake Lines
- The Rear Large Sweep Kit replaces Tesla parts: 1420631-00-A x 2 and 1562160-00-A x 2
Note: We strongly recommend against attempting to use Large Sweep components independently. Large Sweep rotors should only be used with Large Sweep Pads, and Large Sweep Pads should only be used with Large Sweep Rotors.

How does this rear kit add braking without changing my Model X calipers?
It uses a wider annulus rotor and a matched larger pad to grow the contact patch inside the factory caliper. The sweep goes from the factory 47mm to 55mm, so you get more pad-to-rotor surface and more thermal mass without relocating anything. Clever packaging is the whole point of this design.
Whose rotors are these, and what is the racing pedigree?
The rotors come from PFC’s Porsche 911 GT3R race car program and use PFC’s patented V3 hats, which attach to the rotor with no bolts. PFC is our exclusive brake partner and the brake supplier Porsche Motorsports chooses for its competition cars. That is the level of hardware you are bolting to a stock Model X caliper.
How much lighter is this two-piece rotor than stock?
The efficient two-piece design is roughly 40 percent lighter than the factory rear setup while maximizing pad contact and rotor thickness. Less rotating mass means better response and a small efficiency gain, and more rotor thickness means more heat capacity from the same caliper. It replaces Tesla parts 1420631-00-A and 1562160-00-A.
Does this rear Large Sweep kit fit both Model X and Model X Plaid from 2021 on?
Yes, it is built for the 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid, mounting to the factory rear caliper with no relocation. Confirm your car is a 2021 or newer Model X before ordering. The kit is a bolt-on for that platform.
Can I buy just the Large Sweep rotors or just the pads?
The listing offers the full rotor and pad set, replacement rotors, or replacement pads, but the components are engineered as a matched pair. We strongly recommend against mixing them: Large Sweep rotors should only run with Large Sweep pads, and Large Sweep pads only with Large Sweep rotors. Running one without the other undoes the geometry that makes the kit work.
What brake fluid and extras do you recommend with this kit?
Pair it with a high-temperature racing brake fluid such as Motul RBF 660, PFC RH 665, Endless RF 650, or Castrol SRF. We also recommend adding stainless steel brake lines with any brake upgrade for a firmer, more consistent pedal. Proper fluid and a good bed-in are what let PFC hardware show its full character.
How is this different from the carbon ceramic rear kit?
This is a PFC iron large-sweep upgrade that maximizes the factory caliper at a much lower price than carbon ceramic. The Superlight rear carbon ceramic kit saves far more weight and adds a lifetime rotor warranty, but costs more. Choose this iron kit for a strong performance gain on a budget; choose carbon ceramic for maximum weight savings and rotor longevity.
Which pad type should I choose at checkout?
You select Street & Track or Racing & Competition. Street & Track keeps daily manners with strong performance for canyon runs and the odd track day. Racing & Competition wants heat and trades some street civility for outright bite. Most Model X owners are happiest on Street & Track. If you only need more bite on your stock rotors, the UP x PFC High Performance Brake Pads are the simpler buy.
Is this a DIY job or should a shop install it?
Because it retains the factory caliper, it installs like a rotor and pad service, but brake work still demands correct torque, bleeding, and bed-in. If you are equipped and confident, it is doable at home. If not, our Hawthorne team or an authorized installer can fit it and set it up properly.
Will this rear brake kit void my Model X warranty?
Adding it does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under Magnuson-Moss, Tesla must demonstrate that the kit caused a specific failure before refusing a related claim, and this hardware is engineered around the OEM caliper. Keep your original rotors and pads so you can return to stock, and have the work done properly to keep things clean.
Will upgrading my brakes void the Tesla warranty?
Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. That said, any damage directly caused by misuse or improper installation may not be covered. We recommend retaining all factory parts so you can revert to stock if needed. Many Tesla owners enjoy peace of mind by using Unplugged Performance products, which are extensively tested and installed by certified professionals. If warranty concerns are top-of-mind, our team can help clarify compatibility and installation best practices to ensure a worry-free experience.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
