Product Details
The 2021+ Tesla Model X delivers instant torque and serious speed while carrying family, luggage, or gear with ease. That real-world versatility benefits from a braking system that feels predictable, repeatable, and confidence inspiring. Our Stage 1 package focuses on the two upgrades that transform feedback and control without replacing calipers or rotors: performance brake pads and stainless steel sport brake lines.
UP x PFC performance pads, front and rear
Developed with Performance Friction, the Street & Track compound provides a substantial increase in initial bite, stable friction at elevated temperatures, and excellent modulation. Unlike full race pads, Street & Track is engineered to work in daily use without requiring high heat to perform. Noise and dust are well managed for street duty, and rotor wear is controlled. For drivers who regularly enjoy twisty roads, spirited commutes, towing, mountain descents, autocross, or occasional track days, this is the sweet spot that preserves everyday livability.
For closed-course needs where even more bite and thermal headroom are desired, our Competition compound is available. This race-leaning friction material is not recommended for regular street use since it can increase noise and dust, accelerate rotor wear, and needs temperature to shine. Choose Competition only if your Model X primarily sees track environments and you accept those tradeoffs.
Stainless Steel Sport Brake Lines
From the factory, the Model X uses rubber hoses that can expand under hard braking. That expansion softens pedal feedback and reduces precision. Our stainless braided, Teflon-lined Sport Brake Lines resist expansion to deliver a firmer, more consistent pedal and finer control when you are braking repeatedly, towing downhill, or driving quickly. Each kit is vehicle-specific for 2021+ Model X and includes four lines, brackets that follow factory routing, plus crush washers and banjo bolts for a proper install. Professional installation is recommended.
Fluid matters
High-temperature racing brake fluid is strongly recommended with any performance pad upgrade. Choose a premium option such as Motul RBF 660, PFC RH 665, Endless RF 650, or Castrol SRF. OEM DOT 4 fluid will function, but it can contribute to a mushy pedal during sustained hard use. Proper bleeding and a correct bed-in procedure are essential to achieve the best results.
Who is this for
Stage 1 is ideal if you want a noticeable increase in bite, pedal feel, and confidence without changing calipers or rotors. It is a straightforward, OEM-friendly upgrade that preserves daily comfort while adding real performance for the way Model X is used in the real world. Many of our Model X owners run this package for spirited street driving, family road trips through the mountains, or towing, and consistently report a calmer, more predictable brake system.
Fitment and compatibility
This package is designed for all 2021+ Tesla Model X trims. Pads are drop-in for the OEM calipers and rotors. The stainless line kit is engineered for the 2021+ platform. If you plan to upgrade to our carbon ceramic big brake kit later, note that our BBK includes stainless lines. Always verify your exact trim and hardware before purchase.

What is the simplest way to improve braking on a 2021+ Model X without swapping calipers?
Upgrade the pads and the brake lines together, which is exactly what this Stage 1 kit does. It pairs UP x PFC front and rear performance pads with our Stainless Steel Sport Brake Lines to sharpen bite and firm up the pedal during repeated stops. Everything installs on the OEM calipers and rotors, so it is a clean, reversible upgrade.
What pad compound comes in the Stage 1 kit?
It ships with the UP x PFC Street & Track compound, developed with Performance Friction. That material gives a real jump in initial bite and holds friction when the brakes get hot while still working cold, without the noise, dust, and rotor wear of a full race pad. For track-focused Model X owners, a Competition compound is offered separately.
Does the Stage 1 kit fit every 2021+ Model X trim?
Yes. The package is designed for all 2021+ Tesla Model X trims, including Plaid. The pads are drop-in for the OEM calipers and rotors, and the stainless line set is engineered for the 2021+ platform. Confirm your exact trim and hardware before ordering.
Why does a family SUV like the Model X benefit from stainless brake lines?
Because the factory rubber hoses swell under hard braking, and that expansion softens the pedal right when you want confidence, like towing downhill or coming off a mountain pass with the family aboard. The stainless braided, Teflon-lined Sport Brake Lines resist that expansion for a firmer, more consistent pedal. Each kit is vehicle-specific for the 2021+ Model X with four lines plus crush washers and banjo bolts.
Is this a hard DIY, or should I have it installed?
The pad swap is approachable, but the brake lines raise the bar. Fitting the stainless set means opening the hydraulic system and bleeding it properly, and air left in the lines gives you a worse pedal than stock. If you have the tools and have bled brakes before, it is doable at home. If not, our Hawthorne shop or an authorized installer can fit and bleed the whole kit.
Do I need to change brake fluid when I install these pads?
High-temperature racing fluid is strongly recommended with any performance pad. Options like Motul RBF 660, PFC RH 665, Endless RF 650, or Castrol SRF all work well. The factory DOT 4 will function, but it can go soft during sustained hard use, which undoes some of the pedal improvement you are paying for.
Is Stage 1 enough for occasional track days, or do I need a big brake kit?
Stage 1 is the sweet spot for spirited street driving and canyon runs, and it handles towing plus the occasional track day while keeping daily livability. If your Model X mainly lives on track with repeated high-speed laps, step up to our carbon ceramic solutions. The honest line is that pads and lines transform feel; sustained track heat is a job for more rotor and caliper.
How does Stage 1 compare to jumping straight to the carbon ceramic big brake kit?
Stage 1 at its price sharpens feel and control on the stock hardware, which covers how most Model X owners actually drive. The Superlight Carbon Ceramic Front Big Brake Kit adds a 6-piston caliper, a 15.5-inch rotor, and huge thermal headroom for real track duty. Note that the big brake kit already includes stainless lines, so you would not buy Stage 1 first if the BBK is your near-term plan.
Will these brake upgrades void my Model X warranty?
Fitting aftermarket brake pads and lines does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act means Tesla has to prove an aftermarket part caused a specific failure before denying a related claim, and our parts are engineered to work with the OEM brake system. Have them installed by us or an authorized installer and keep your factory parts, and you are covered sensibly.
What comes in the box with the Stage 1 kit?
You get UP x PFC performance brake pads for front and rear in the Street & Track compound, plus the Stainless Steel Sport Brake Line Set for the 2021+ Model X. That line set includes four vehicle-specific lines with brackets that follow factory routing, along with the crush washers and banjo bolts needed to fit them. Brake fluid is supplied separately since compound choice is up to you.
Will upgrading my brakes void the Tesla warranty?
Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. That said, any damage directly caused by misuse or improper installation may not be covered. We recommend retaining all factory parts so you can revert to stock if needed. Many Tesla owners enjoy peace of mind by using Unplugged Performance products, which are extensively tested and installed by certified professionals. If warranty concerns are top-of-mind, our team can help clarify compatibility and installation best practices to ensure a worry-free experience.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.Â
