Because the factory rubber hoses swell under hard braking, and that expansion softens the pedal right when you want confidence, like towing downhill or coming off a mountain pass with the family aboard. The stainless braided, Teflon-lined Sport Brake Lines resist that expansion for a firmer, more consistent pedal. Each kit is vehicle-specific for the 2021+ Model X with four lines plus crush washers and banjo bolts.

The pad swap is approachable, but the brake lines raise the bar. Fitting the stainless set means opening the hydraulic system and bleeding it properly, and air left in the lines gives you a worse pedal than stock. If you have the tools and have bled brakes before, it is doable at home. If not, our Hawthorne shop or an authorized installer can fit and bleed the whole kit.

High-temperature racing fluid is strongly recommended with any performance pad. Options like Motul RBF 660, PFC RH 665, Endless RF 650, or Castrol SRF all work well. The factory DOT 4 will function, but it can go soft during sustained hard use, which undoes some of the pedal improvement you are paying for.

Stage 1 is the sweet spot for spirited street driving and canyon runs, and it handles towing plus the occasional track day while keeping daily livability. If your Model X mainly lives on track with repeated high-speed laps, step up to our carbon ceramic solutions. The honest line is that pads and lines transform feel; sustained track heat is a job for more rotor and caliper.

Stage 1 at its price sharpens feel and control on the stock hardware, which covers how most Model X owners actually drive. The Superlight Carbon Ceramic Front Big Brake Kit adds a 6-piston caliper, a 15.5-inch rotor, and huge thermal headroom for real track duty. Note that the big brake kit already includes stainless lines, so you would not buy Stage 1 first if the BBK is your near-term plan.

Fitting aftermarket brake pads and lines does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act means Tesla has to prove an aftermarket part caused a specific failure before denying a related claim, and our parts are engineered to work with the OEM brake system. Have them installed by us or an authorized installer and keep your factory parts, and you are covered sensibly.

It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
