Tesla Model Y 19-Inch UP-RW FF Wheel and Winter Tire Package
-
For Model Y owners who want a dedicated winter setup without committing a set of forged wheels to five months of salt duty, the UP-RW FF Wheel and Winter Tire Package is the sensible answer. Flow-formed construction produces a barrel that is lighter and far more impact-resistant than a conventional cast wheel, with a load rating suitable for the Model X, and the aero-optimized disc measured within 0.010 Cd of Tesla’s lowest-drag production wheel, so the range you lose to cold weather is not compounded by the wheels. Replaceable curb guards handle the snowbank contact winter makes inevitable, and a lifetime structural warranty backs the wheel itself.

The Winter Set That Makes Financial Sense
Almost every Model Y owner in a cold climate agrees that a second set of wheels is the right answer. The hesitation is never about whether it works. It is about the cost of buying wheels that spend five months of the year in road salt.
The UP-RW FF exists precisely for that hesitation. It brings the UP-RW Road Warrior design, the aero-optimized disc shape and the structural philosophy behind it, to a considerably more accessible price by using flow-forming rather than full forging. For a dedicated seasonal set, that combination is hard to argue with. You get the engineering that matters for winter without paying for capability a winter set will never use.
What Flow-Forming Buys You
Flow-forming starts with a cast blank. The barrel is then spun at high speed while rollers stretch and compress the aluminum over a mandrel. That aligns the grain structure of the metal in the barrel, which is the part of the wheel that absorbs the impact when you hit something.
The result is a barrel that is both lighter and much more impact-resistant than a conventional cast wheel. On a heavy EV that lives on rough roads and highway miles, that added strength is the entire point.
How much strength? These wheels carry a load rating suitable for the Model X, Tesla’s heaviest passenger vehicle. On a Model Y that represents substantial margin, and margin is exactly what a winter set should have. Winter loading is unpredictable by nature: a pothole under slush, a frost heave you never saw, a curb buried in a bank. Excess capacity is what makes those events uneventful.
Fits Every Model Y, Including the Juniper Refresh
This package fits all Tesla Model Y years and trims, from 2020 through the current cars including the 2026 Juniper refresh, whether your vehicle came on 19-, 20-, or 21-inch factory wheels.
The 19×8.5 +30 fitment with a 255/45R19 winter tire matches factory 19-inch overall diameter, so your speedometer and odometer stay accurate, range and efficiency estimation stays calibrated, and the stability and traction systems keep operating on the wheel-speed data they were tuned around.
If your Model Y wears 20s or 21s, this package adds sidewall exactly where winter demands it. More rubber between the rim and the road means impacts from frost heave, plow ridges, and newly opened potholes get absorbed rather than transmitted, and the ride is far more forgiving on pavement that will not be repaired until spring.
Aero Efficiency in the Season That Costs You Range
The UP-RW FF carries the aero-focused disc profile of the Road Warrior family, an approach rooted in the same design philosophy that made its forged predecessor so compelling.
CFD validation put the UP-RW within 0.010 Cd of the 18-inch Photon Aero Covered wheel, Tesla’s lowest-drag production wheel, which is a result almost no aftermarket wheel for any Tesla has matched.
That matters more in winter than at any other time. Cold air is denser than warm air, and aerodynamic drag scales with air density, so a given speed costs more energy in January than in July. Meanwhile your battery is working less efficiently in the cold and cabin heating is drawing continuous power. Three effects, all pulling range down at once. A wheel engineered for low drag is one of the few things pushing back, and it does so on every mile without any input from you.
Most winter wheel choices trade efficiency away. This one protects it.
Square Fitment and Rotation
The 19×8.5 +30 fitment is square, with identical wheels and tires at all four corners, so tires can rotate front to rear on schedule.
That is what makes even wear possible, and even wear is what extends the usable life of a set of winter tires. Winter tires only work for part of the year, so their life is measured in seasons. Stretching a set from three winters to four is a real saving, and rotation is the simplest way to do it.
Curb Guards, Which Winter Turns Into a Necessity
Replaceable curb guard rings are available for the UP-RW FF in 2, 4, 6, and 8 packs, and they can be swapped without dismounting the tire.
Winter is when this stops being about appearances. Snowbanks swallow curbs whole. Parking lot edges vanish. Street parking gets narrower every week as banks build along the shoulder. Contact is not a matter of skill, it is a matter of time. With curb guards, that contact costs a ring. Without them, it costs a refinish or a permanent scar on a wheel you paid for.
Behind that sits a lifetime structural warranty for the original owner. Crack a wheel and we replace it.
Tire Option for the UP-RW FF 19-Inch Wheel and Winter Tire Package
Vredestein Wintrac Pro Wheel and Winter Tire Package
Best for: Model Y owners who want a complete, well-specified winter setup at a sensible total cost. The Wintrac Pro is an ultra-high-performance winter tire developed for 17-inch and larger wheels and rated to 300 km/h, which is well beyond typical winter tire specification and reflects what it was designed to do. It delivers strong snow grip alongside dry grip, wet braking, and steering response that most winter tires give up, so the car keeps its composure on the cold, clear days that make up the majority of any winter. Reviewers also rate it well for tread life, and rotation on this square fitment stretches that further.
Michelin X-Ice Snow Wheel and Winter Tire Package
Best for: Drivers who need maximum grip on ice and packed snow. The X-Ice Snow is a studless winter specialist using a full silica-based compound that stays flexible in severe cold, plus a rigid polymer inclusion in the tread for added bite. Michelin cites ice braking up to 2.7 meters shorter than a leading competitor. Choose this when the conditions you are planning for are the worst ones, not the average ones.
The Numbers Behind the Package
Winter packages are usually sold on safety, and that argument is correct. The cost argument is just as strong and gets made less often.
Swapping tires on one set of wheels twice a year means paying mounting and balancing labor every spring and every fall, indefinitely, while putting cumulative wear on tire beads and wheel bead seats. Your summer wheels then spend five months in salt and brine, the harshest environment a wheel finish encounters. And running all-seasons year round wears them faster while delivering worse grip at both temperature extremes.
A dedicated winter set on flow-formed wheels eliminates every one of those costs. Add a Model X load rating, a lifetime structural warranty, replaceable curb guards, square fitment for rotation, and an aero profile that limits the range penalty in the coldest months, and the package returns its cost in avoided expenses while making the car meaningfully safer for close to half the year.

Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days.
