What is Technik-Leather?
Technik-Leather is von Holzhausen’s proprietary leather alternative, 100% animal free and made from recycled plastic. Roughly 18.75 plastic bottles go into one backpack, which can save over 1000 gallons of potable water and cuts the carbon footprint about 33% compared with cow hides. It feels like animal leather in hand, and it is durable yet fully biodegradable in a landfill.
How much storage does the vH x UP backpack have?
A double-zipper main compartment for easy access, a large zippered front pocket, two open slip pockets on each side, and a dedicated laptop compartment inside. A grab handle and padded adjustable straps handle the carrying. It swallows a daily work loadout without turning into a duffel.
Will it survive rain and rough handling?
The Technik-Leather carries a Liquiplant plant-based topcoat that makes the bag very resistant to stains, scratches, and water damage, no harsh chemical treatment involved. Inside, the liner is a high-tech rip-stop woven with extremely strong fibers for long-haul durability. It is built to work as luggage first.
Where is the backpack made?
Handmade in Italy in very limited numbers. Each bag carries an engraved vH x UP metal plaque marking the collaboration. This was the first project between Unplugged Performance and von Holzhausen, produced for UP clientele rather than general retail, which is why it appears and sells out in waves.
What colors does the von Holzhausen x UP backpack come in?
Two options: Black and Stone. Black disappears into daily wear and shows the engraved plaque as the only visible branding. Stone is the lighter, more noticeable take. Construction is identical either way, same Technik-Leather and the same Italian workshop, so the decision is purely about how loud you want the bag to read.
How does Technik-Leather compare to real leather for a bag?
It matches the hand feel of animal leather while behaving better in weather, since the Liquiplant topcoat shrugs off the staining and water marks that plague unfinished hide. It skips animal materials entirely, uses recycled plastic as its base, and still biodegrades in a landfill at end of life. Traditional leather wins only on tradition.
Are there smaller pieces in the same collaboration?
Yes. The UP x KAM x vH keychain combines a von Holzhausen strap with Koenigsegg carbon fiber, and the KAM carbon fiber coaster rounds out the desk set. All three are produced in limited quantities, so availability on any given day is worth checking rather than assuming.
Why did a Tesla tuning company make a backpack?
The bag celebrates our automotive interior work with von Holzhausen, whose materials appear in UP interior programs. Both brands share the same premise: premium quality without the environmental cost. A limited backpack was the natural crossover piece, built by vH’s Italian workshop and badged by both companies.
Will a laptop fit securely for daily commuting?
Yes, there is a dedicated laptop compartment on the interior, separate from the main space, and the padded straps carry the weight comfortably. If you run an oversized machine, contact us to confirm dimensions against your model before ordering. Everything else about the bag is commute-ready out of the box.
How do I clean and care for Technik-Leather?
Lightly. The topcoat sheds most grime, so a wipe with a soft damp cloth is usually the whole job. Because stain and water resistance is built into the material rather than sprayed on, there is no conditioning schedule like animal leather demands.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days. Larger items like body kits or bumpers may ship via freight carriers with curbside delivery; customers will be contacted to schedule a delivery window. International shipping is available to most countries, with shipping costs calculated at checkout. Delivery times abroad vary, generally ranging from 5 to 16 business days depending on destination. Import duties or taxes are the customer’s responsibility. To ensure a smooth shipping experience, provide accurate contact information during checkout. For specific questions or shipping quotes, Unplugged Performance’s support team is available to assist.
