Q: Why does forged construction help a heavy EV like the Model Y?

Forging gives you strength with low mass, and low mass at the wheel does two useful things: it sharpens response by reducing rotating inertia, and it helps efficiency. The I-beam architecture resists flex so the feedback stays consistent when the car is loaded up mid-corner. On a vehicle that’s both heavy and quick, keeping unsprung weight down while holding strength high is exactly what you want.
