Q: Is this a lifetime part or something I replace regularly?
The housing is designed for lifetime use on the vehicle. The internal oil filter is the serviceable piece, easily replaced at standard intervals and widely available worldwide, and there is a convenient drain plug for quick oil sampling. So you buy the billet aluminum cooler once and just change the filter element periodically, much like maintaining any properly designed filtration system.
