The Model Y L brings a longer wheelbase and a new set of proportions to the Model Y platform. Naturally, we wanted to see how our upgrades would come together on it.
We’ve now confirmed compatibility across our Tesla Model Y wheel lineup, validated our lowering spring heights, and checked fitment for our Leveling Lift Kit. Whether you’re building your Model Y L for everyday driving or going for a lifted, adventure-inspired look, we’ve validated the fitment of our wheel and suspension upgrades to help you make it your own.
The vehicle in this post takes the daily driver approach: UP-RW FF flow formed wheels, Hankook iON evo AS tires, and our Mild Lowering Springs.
UP-RW FF Wheels Meet the Model Y L
Our Tesla Model Y wheel lineup is compatible with the Model Y L, giving owners a range of designs to choose from. For this vehicle, we chose the UP-RW FF Road Warrior. Paired with a subtle reduction in ride height, the wheels help the longer vehicle look more planted and visually balanced.
For tires, we used Hankook iON evo AS in 255/45R19, with the same wheel and tire fitment at all four corners. This square setup also allows front-to-rear tire rotation, a useful benefit on a vehicle that will likely spend plenty of time handling daily commutes, family trips, and everything in between.
We chose the Hankook iON evo AS tires because they’ve been among the most efficient options we’ve seen in our experience. They’re also part of our latest Model 3 Range Booster Package, the setup used in our record-setting coast-to-coast Cannonball run with Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised). That experience made these tires a natural starting point for this Model Y L build. While we haven’t measured the efficiency gains on the Model Y L, we’re stand by starting with a tire we’ve already put to work over thousands of miles.
A Subtle Drop With the Factory Adaptive Suspension
The Model Y L shown in this gallery is fitted with our Mild Lowering Springs. We validated this spring height on the vehicle to give owners a clear reference for how the setup looks.
The Mild option brings the body closer to the wheels and reduces the visual gap beneath the fenders. On the longer Model Y L, that subtle change helps tie the whole profile together.
Just as importantly, you retain your factory shocks and adaptive suspension functionality. The springs allow you to adjust the vehicle’s stance while continuing to use the factory damping system.
Choose the Height That Suits Your Build
The Mild setup is one direction. We also offer Moderate Lowering Springs for owners who want a more pronounced drop.
If you prefer to stay close to the original ride height, our OEM Stock Height Springs take a different approach. These retain approximately the factory height while introducing the dual-rate spring technology we developed to balance everyday compliance with increased support as the suspension compresses.
A Little More Height Opens Up Another Look
We also validated fitment of our Leveling Lift Kit on the Model Y L. For owners picturing a build with a more rugged, trail-inspired presence, our Leveling Lift Kit provides another starting point. Raising the vehicle changes its proportions, especially when paired with a suitable wheel and tire combination. You can also round out the setup with our rear camber arms and sway bars, which we’ve validated for compatibility with the Model Y L, adding alignment adjustability and greater control over body roll.
Your Model Y L, Your Direction
This gallery shows our approach to a clean daily setup: UP-RW FF wheels, 255/45R19 Hankook iON evo AS tires, and Mild Lowering Springs, with the factory shocks and adaptive suspension retained.
But it’s only one combination.
Whether you want to keep the factory height, bring the vehicle lower, or build around a lifted stance, our validated Model Y L fitments give you more options to work with.
