Q: Does the taller 18-inch sidewall hurt on-road handling?

A little, and it is a fair trade. More sidewall flexes slightly more in hard cornering than a short 22-inch tire, so steering feels a touch softer. In return you get a smoother ride and far more protection against pothole and rock damage. For a truck used off pavement, most drivers happily take the comfort and durability.
