Q: How does the forged UP-05 compare to a cast aftermarket wheel?

Forging aligns the metal’s grain structure, so a forged UP-05 achieves high strength at lower weight than a comparable cast wheel. Less unsprung and rotating mass improves how the suspension reacts over bumps and sharpens turn-in. Cast wheels can look similar but usually weigh more and flex differently. For a heavy EV like the Model Y, the forged construction is where the handling and ride gains come from.
