Q: What does ‘flow-formed’ actually mean for wheel strength?
Flow-forming takes a low-pressure cast blank with a thick barrel, then uses rollers to stretch and compress that barrel over a mandrel. The process elongates and aligns the grain, which raises barrel strength, thins the wall, and improves resistance to impact and fatigue. The result is a wheel stronger and lighter than a plain cast piece, without the cost of full forging.
