Q: What does the rear traction arm, the upper fore link, do on a Model S?

It is one of the five links in the 2021+ Model S rear suspension, and it helps locate the rear hub fore and aft under acceleration and braking. When the factory link’s rubber bushings flex, the rear wheel moves slightly under load, which softens response and can let alignment wander. This billet upper fore link with sealed spherical bushings holds that location firmly, so power goes down with less slop.
