Q: What is the difference between a flood beam and a spot beam?

Beam pattern. A flood beam spreads light wide across a short distance, which suits work around the vehicle: reversing, hitching, unloading. A spot beam concentrates light into a narrow, long-range cone for picking out terrain far ahead. Rear bumper duty is close-range work, so these are floods. If you want long-throw light, that job belongs on the roof or front of the truck, not the back.
