Q: Why do stainless steel brake lines give a firmer pedal than stock rubber?

Factory rubber brake lines expand slightly under high hydraulic pressure, and that flex shows up at your foot as a soft, spongy pedal. A stainless steel line has a braided outer sheath that resists that expansion, so more of your pedal pressure goes straight to the calipers. The result is a firmer, more responsive pedal that lets you meter braking more precisely.
