Q: Why go to an 18-inch wheel for off-road use?

A smaller-diameter wheel makes room for a taller tire at the same overall height, and more sidewall means more cushion over rocks and ruts plus better resistance to bending a rim. That is the logic behind offering the UP-02 in an 18-inch off-road size rather than the 19-inch-and-up street sizes. For dirt and rough roads, sidewall is your friend.
