2021+ Model S Plaid / Model S Rear – Superlight Large-Sweep Carbon Ceramic Rotor + Pad Kit
Fit your Tesla Model S Plaid or Long Range with this high-performance and high-efficiency rear brake upgrade. Compatible with 19″ and above wheels, these brakes drop a massive 16lbs of rotational weight, provide a 19% increase pad/rotor surface area, and provide performance improvements no matter your tire preference or type of driving. Whether your aim is maximum attack on the track, posting the fastest drag strip times at your local drag night, or maximizing efficiency and acceleration on the street, these are all upside. Rear carbon ceramics without compromise.
Carbon ceramic braking technology is leveraged by modern hypercars and supercars to provide the ultimate in stopping power, combined with the unique characteristics of carbon which include lightweight, light-wearing, and long component life. Early-generation carbon-ceramic rotors from manufacturers such as Ferrari and Porsche earned a reputation for being squeaky and cranky in cold weather, these problems have been overcome with the latest generation carbon-ceramic technology. We are proud to say that our carbon-ceramic brake systems are quieter than any iron system we have tried with performance pads and perform well in all conditions from boiling hot track days to frozen mountain roads.
Specifications:
- 2-Year warranty against rotor wear (for original purchaser, non-transferable). We guarantee these rotors will last as long as you own your vehicle and we will replace them for free if they need replacement. This INCLUDES unlimited track use! Pad replacement is both affordable and infrequent compared to iron rotors.
- Large 56mm sweep annulus carbon-ceramic (carbon-silicon carbide) rotor paired with oversized Large Sweep brake pads allows for more pad-to-rotor surface contact in the same physical dimensions to easily fit 19″ wheels. The 56mm sweep is 19% more than the factory rear rotor’s 47mm annulus.
- Newest rotor technology with the highest friction available
- The rotor utilizes no separate friction layer with maximum durability for a 2-Year warranty of use. This ensures no future need for downtime to send in friction layer for servicing/re-infusion.
- UP x PFC brake pads are designed and extensively brake dyno as well as field tested specifically for use with carbon-ceramic rotors, and are compatible with daily street use and hardcore track driving.
- Fits all Tesla Model S Plaid and Model S Long Range 2021+ vehicles in any factory wheel configuration including 19″ inch wheels

- 16lbs reduction (38% less) of rotational unsprung weight for better feel and improved efficiency. Factory rear rotors are 41lbs combined, these are 25lbs
- Kit includes all components necessary for installation (high-performance brake fluid will need to be supplied by the buyer, and can be purchased at any automotive parts retailer). We strongly recommend pairing your rear kit with our Super Light Carbon Ceramic Front Big Brake Kit (BBK) which includes our brake lines)
- Designed to fit Tesla 19″ Tempest and 21″ Arachnid wheels as well as all Unplugged Performance wheels and every aftermarket 19″ or larger wheel that we have seen.

What makes carbon ceramic rear brakes better than iron for a Plaid?
Carbon ceramic rotors are the technology hypercars use for stopping power plus light weight and long life. This rear kit drops 16lbs of rotational mass, a 38% reduction, going from 41lbs of factory rotors to 25lbs. It also grows the pad contact patch 19%, with a 56mm sweep annulus versus the factory 47mm. Lighter rotating weight improves feel and efficiency, and the carbon rotor barely wears, so brake life is effectively endless.
How much weight does this rear kit save on a Model S Plaid?
It removes 16lbs of unsprung rotating weight, about 38% less than stock. Factory rear rotors weigh 41lbs combined; these are 25lbs. Because that weight is both unsprung and rotating, cutting it sharpens suspension response and helps efficiency at the same time. The rotor itself is a 365 x 28mm carbon-silicon carbide unit, the same diameter as factory, so the gains come from material and packaging rather than a size change. For a lower-cost rear option that keeps the OEM caliper, see our Large Sweep rotor and pad set.
Does this rear carbon ceramic kit fit 19-inch Tesla wheels?
Yes. It fits all 2021+ Model S Plaid and Model S Long Range cars in any factory wheel setup, including 19-inch wheels, and it is designed around Tesla’s 19-inch Tempest and 21-inch Arachnid wheels plus every Unplugged Performance wheel and essentially any aftermarket 19-inch-or-larger wheel we have seen. The oversized Large Sweep pad fits the same physical space, so you keep small-wheel compatibility while gaining contact area.
What does the 2-year rotor wear warranty actually cover?
For the original purchaser, we guarantee the carbon ceramic rotors will last as long as you own the vehicle and we will replace them free if they need it, and that coverage includes unlimited track use. The rotors use no separate friction layer, so there is no downtime to send them out for re-infusion. Pads are a consumable, but they are affordable and replaced far less often than on iron rotors. The warranty is non-transferable.
Are carbon ceramic brakes noisy or cold-natured like older ones?
Early carbon ceramic rotors from names like Ferrari and Porsche earned a reputation for squealing and being cranky in the cold. The latest generation, which this kit uses, has moved past that. We find our carbon ceramic systems quieter than any iron setup we have tried with performance pads, and they perform from boiling track days to frozen mountain roads. The pads are dyno-developed and field tested specifically for carbon ceramic rotors.
Should I run this rear kit on its own or with the front carbon kit?
You can run it alone as a rear upgrade, and it delivers on any tire and any driving style. That said, we strongly recommend pairing it with the Superlight Carbon Ceramic Front Big Brake Kit, which includes the braided brake lines, for a balanced front-to-rear carbon ceramic system. Matching front and rear gives you consistent feel and the full weight and endurance benefit across the car.
Is this rear kit good for track days or just the street?
Both. It is built to take constant abuse and keep delivering consistent stops when paired with proper high-temp racing fluid, and clients have raced multiple full seasons on a single set of pads with no rotor changes. On the street it is all upside: lower weight, better efficiency, quiet operation. The rotors handle unlimited track use under the warranty, so you are not rationing track time to protect them.
What is included, and do I need to supply anything?
The kit includes every component needed for installation. You supply the high-performance brake fluid, which you can buy at any auto parts store, since a proper bleed with race fluid is essential on a car this heavy and fast. If you are also fitting the front carbon kit, note the brake lines come with that front kit. Choose your pad compound, Racing/Competition or Street and Track Day, when ordering.
How does the 56mm sweep compare to the factory rear rotor?
The factory rear rotor uses a 47mm sweep annulus. This kit runs a 56mm sweep, which is 19% more pad-to-rotor surface contact in the same physical space. More contact area means more consistent friction and better heat handling without needing a bigger wheel. That extra swept area, combined with the light carbon rotor, is how the kit adds capability while still tucking behind 19-inch wheels.
Do carbon ceramic brakes affect my Tesla warranty?
Fitting them does not automatically void Tesla’s coverage. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Tesla must show that the aftermarket part caused a specific failure to deny a claim, so retain your factory brakes if you might revert. Separately, Unplugged Performance backs these rotors with a 2-year wear guarantee for the original owner that lasts as long as you own the car, including unlimited track use.
Will upgrading my brakes void the Tesla warranty?
Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. That said, any damage directly caused by misuse or improper installation may not be covered. We recommend retaining all factory parts so you can revert to stock if needed. Many Tesla owners enjoy peace of mind by using Unplugged Performance products, which are extensively tested and installed by certified professionals. If warranty concerns are top-of-mind, our team can help clarify compatibility and installation best practices to ensure a worry-free experience.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
