Product Details
Winter is the one condition where tire choice outweighs everything else on the car. This package is our complete cold-weather answer for the Tesla Model Y: four 18-inch UP Forged UP-RW wheels wrapped in Michelin X-Ice Snow SUV 235/55R18 XL winter tires, assembled by our technicians and shipped ready to bolt on. No sourcing, no fitment guesswork, no waiting in line at a tire shop the morning after the first storm.
Running a second, dedicated winter set is how experienced owners in cold climates do it. Your summer or all-season tires stay out of the salt and freeze-thaw cycles, your primary wheels avoid a season of brine and pothole roulette, and the seasonal swap takes an hour in your own garage instead of a shop appointment twice a year.
WHY A DEDICATED WINTER SET, NOT AN ALL-SEASON
All-season tires are a compromise that stops working around 45°F. Their compound stiffens as temperatures fall, and grip drops off before there is any snow on the ground. A true winter tire uses a compound engineered to stay pliable in the cold, plus a tread design built to bite into snow and evacuate slush and meltwater. On a heavy, high-torque EV like the Model Y, that difference shows up in every stop, every corner, and every hill start.
The Michelin X-Ice Snow SUV is Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake rated for severe snow service. Its FleX-Ice compound holds flexibility in deep cold, its continuous V-shaped directional tread channels slush and water out of the contact patch, and its full-depth notched and variable-thickness sipes create thousands of biting edges that keep working as the tire wears. It is a studless winter tire, so it stays quiet and composed on cleared, dry pavement between storms, which is where most winter miles are actually driven.
WHY UP-RW IS THE RIGHT WINTER WHEEL
Winter is hard on wheels. Salt, brine, frost-heaved pavement, and hidden potholes under snowpack all conspire against a thin-sidewall setup on a large-diameter rim.
Dropping to 18 inches puts a 55-series sidewall between your rim and the road. That extra sidewall absorbs sharp impacts, improves compliance on broken cold-weather pavement, and meaningfully reduces the chance of a bent rim or a blown-out tire on a pothole you never saw. Forged 6061-T6 aluminum construction keeps strength high and weight low, with the load capacity EV duty demands. A replaceable Curb Guard ring defends the outer edge against curb rash from snowbanks and unmarked curbs, and can be swapped if it gets scuffed rather than requiring a wheel refinish. The two-tone satin finish is durable and resists chips and UV fade, so it holds up to a season of road salt and washing.
The 18×8.5 +32 spec is validated for Model Y clearances and works with OEM hardware, so nothing about the install is a science project.
HONEST NOTES ON RANGE, SPEED, AND SEASON
Winter tires trade some efficiency for traction. Expect a modest range reduction versus a low-rolling-resistance all-season, on top of the range loss cold weather causes on its own. That is the cost of stopping and steering when the road is frozen, and in our experience it is not a close call.
The X-Ice Snow SUV in this size carries a 104T XL rating. T is a 118 mph speed rating, which is standard for winter tires and is not a limitation in the conditions this package is built for. Michelin’s treadwear coverage on this tire applies to winter-season use, so plan to run this set in the cold months and return to your primary tires in spring. Overall diameter is within roughly half a percent of the factory 19-inch setup, so speedometer and range estimates stay accurate.
DELIVERED READY TO INSTALL
Every package is assembled by our service technicians, road-force balanced, and fitted with Black Bluetooth TPMS sensors for 2021+ Model Y. Unbox, torque to spec, and drive. If you would rather not do it yourself, any competent tire shop or our installer network can mount them in under an hour, and the seasonal swap after that is straightforward.

What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days. Larger items like body kits or bumpers may ship via freight carriers with curbside delivery; customers will be contacted to schedule a delivery window. International shipping is available to most countries, with shipping costs calculated at checkout. Delivery times abroad vary, generally ranging from 5 to 16 business days depending on destination. Import duties or taxes are the customer’s responsibility. To ensure a smooth shipping experience, provide accurate contact information during checkout. For specific questions or shipping quotes, Unplugged Performance’s support team is available to assist.
