In 2017 UP developed the world’s first Tesla coilover suspension kit launching a focus on happiness with our cost-no-object monotube “Pro Coilover” suspension series. In the years that followed, Unplugged Performance monotube coilovers became the go-to choice for both the fastest Tesla race cars as well as the most comfortable daily drivers. Lower cost twin tube design shocks are commonly used in the Tesla aftermarket coilovers due to cost advantages. After years of development, Unplugged Performance now offers a new level of affordability with our Sport Suspension Kit twin tube series by focusing on economies of scale and by leveraging highly acclaimed Unplugged Performance Dual Rate Linear Spring technology. The result is a highly developed suspension kit that offers some adjustability while providing a more engaging experience and more comfort in your Tesla Model Y.

Tuned specifically for the Model Y. The Sport Suspension shocks were designed and developed specifically for the Model Y factoring in weight, balance, valving and stroke length for optimized sport performance and added comfort as a bonus. These twin-tube shocks offer a longer stroke and include advanced internal hydraulic bump stop technology that offers smoother, longer stroke actuation which reduces harshness at full stroke. The elongated stroke range further ensures maximum performance and comfort over uneven and rough road surfaces.  Tuning calmer rebound without high valve rates results in an increase in stability at higher speeds. 

Adjustable damping for improved engagement. The level of sport performance to comfort that is desired can be selected and adjusted with the Sport Suspension Kit. We recommend utilizing the preset default damping setting which is optimized for a perfect balance of comfort and performance stability. However, should you desire a specific setting for your application you can follow the quick-reference guide below and make simple adjustments to the shocks by turning the knobs at the top prior to install. 

Optional Dual-Rate Linear Lowering Springs offer more performance AND more comfort. Unplugged Performance Dual-Rate Linear Lowering Spring technology offers two distinct spring rates in one spring. The first spring rate is about 25% softer offering more comfort in everyday driving over bumps and potholes. When the suspension is further compressed (in spirited driving conditions) the second spring rate engages for reduced body roll, and  improved handling, and more grip. The result is more comfort for everyday driving, AND more sport when you want to engage in more spirited driving. 

Offered in two ride height options (if Lowering Springs are selected). An additional benefit of the Dual-Rate Linear Lowering Springs is that we offer two height options for the Model Y: Mild, and Moderate. The “Mild” option is roughly comparable to the Performance model ride height lowering (non-Performance) Model Ys by around 1 inch. The Moderate ride height takes it a step further lowering the vehicle around 1.5 inches. Note: different applications can net different results with heights varying up to .25 inches.

Lowering is proven to reduce drag and increase efficiency. By lowering the Tesla Model Y, because it is a flat-bottom vehicle, the air can move beneath the car at a higher velocity which reduces the air pressure present, and as a result, reduces drag which is the catalyst for the efficiency. The cleaner air beneath a lowered Model Y can also clean the air at the rear end which contributes to the efficiency improvements.
