The Unplugged Performance Ascension-R rear wing has been developed in CFD for maximum rear downforce in a tasteful and Model Y specific design.
MADE SPECIFIC FOR THE MODEL Y
Unlike most racing wings, this particular wing utilizes a specialized shape that is developed exclusively for the Model Y platform. The wing is dimensionally appropriate for a street driven car, but creates significant rear downforce for racing applications. Rear visibility is not impaired at all after installation as it cannot be seen in the rearview mirror.
UP Carbon parts are engineered using advanced prepreg-autoclave technology with our proprietary dry-carbon-kevlar backing layer. This superior method, with resin integrated during production, delivers exceptional strength-to-weight performance compared to traditional wet-layup or vacuum infusion methods.
Finish Options
- Gloss Base Coat: Showcases the carbon weave pattern with a glossy finish
- Satin Base Coat: Offers a refined, contemporary aesthetic
Base Coat Information

INSTALLATION NOTES
This rear wing requires drilling to the trunk for installation. For those concerned with resale value after drilling into the factory trunk, spare trunks can frequently be found for near $500 on eBay or even new from Tesla. If concerned with resale value, this wing could be sold with included trunk in exchange for a factory trunk as another option.

Who actually makes the Ascension-R wing?
It is made in Japan by Voltex Racing in Suzuka, a name well known in motorsport for serious aero. We developed the shape in CFD specifically for the Model Y so it produces real rear downforce rather than being a generic wing adapted to fit. You are getting Voltex craftsmanship on a profile tuned to the Model Y platform, which is why it looks proportionate on the car rather than tacked on.
Does mounting this wing require drilling into my trunk?
Yes. This rear wing requires drilling into the trunk to install, which is the trade-off for a true downforce wing rather than a tape-on spoiler. If resale worries you, spare Model Y trunks can often be found near $500 on eBay or new from Tesla, so you could fit the wing to a spare and keep your factory trunk. Plan the install knowing it is permanent to that trunk lid.
Does the Ascension-R work on a Juniper trunk or only the first-gen car?
It is designed for the first-generation Tesla Model Y, the 2020 to 2025 car. It is not made for the 2026+ Juniper trunk. Because installation involves drilling to a specific trunk shape, matching your generation matters even more than usual here. If you run a Juniper and want rear aero, the bolt-on 2026+ efficiency trunk spoiler is the piece shaped for that generation instead.
Will this wing block my rear view?
No. Despite being a full racing-style wing, it was sized so it sits outside the rearview mirror’s sightline and cannot be seen in the mirror after installation. Rear visibility is not impaired. The wing is dimensionally appropriate for a street-driven car while still generating meaningful downforce, so you get the track presence without giving up a clear view behind you.
How is this different from the high-efficiency trunk spoiler?
They serve different drivers. The high-efficiency trunk spoiler is a subtle, tape-on, no-drill piece aimed at efficiency and clean looks. The Ascension-R is a drill-mount racing wing built for significant rear downforce and a bold motorsport stance. If you want understated and reversible, choose the spoiler. If you want real downforce for track use and a statement rear, the wing is the one.
Is the wing carbon fiber, and how is it built?
Yes, it is carbon fiber, built with prepreg-autoclave construction and our dry-carbon-kevlar backing layer, with resin integrated during production for a strong strength-to-weight result. It is offered in gloss or satin wing plane finishes. The construction is genuine structural carbon suited to the loads a real wing sees, not a lightweight cosmetic shell that only looks the part.
Does the Ascension-R make sense for a daily-driven Model Y?
It can. The wing is dimensionally appropriate for a street car and does not hurt rear visibility, so it lives with daily use fine. The bigger consideration is the drilled trunk, which is permanent, and the fact that its real payoff is downforce for spirited and track driving. If your Model Y never sees a track, the visual is the main draw, and that is a valid reason to run it.
Should I have the drilled mount done professionally?
It is worth it. Our Hawthorne team can install the wing and quote you an appointment if you are near Los Angeles. Given that the mount requires drilling into the trunk, having it done professionally reduces the risk of a misaligned hole on a permanent install. If you are set on doing it yourself, measure carefully and follow the template, because there is no easy undo once the holes are made.
What warranty covers the wing?
It carries a 5-year structural warranty on fitment and functionality for the original owner. Cosmetic outcomes on unprotected carbon, like UV fading or chips, are not covered, so clear coat or paint protection film helps preserve the finish. The base coat ships as-is to let you add that protection. The structural coverage is what backs the wing itself over years of use.
Does the wing add downforce or is it mostly for show?
It adds real downforce. We developed the profile in CFD for maximum rear downforce in a Model Y specific shape, and Voltex builds it to handle those loads. It creates significant rear grip for racing applications while staying street-appropriate in size. So it is genuinely functional at speed, and the aggressive look is a byproduct of a wing that actually does its job.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.Â
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days. Larger items like body kits or bumpers may ship via freight carriers with curbside delivery; customers will be contacted to schedule a delivery window. International shipping is available to most countries, with shipping costs calculated at checkout. Delivery times abroad vary, generally ranging from 5 to 16 business days depending on destination. Import duties or taxes are the customer’s responsibility. To ensure a smooth shipping experience, provide accurate contact information during checkout. For specific questions or shipping quotes, Unplugged Performance’s support team is available to assist.
