Tesla Model Y Ascension Rear Carbon Fiber Diffuser With Hitch Cover & Tow Hook Cover
The concept of Ascension to us means bringing the underlying Tesla vehicle to a higher level. With the Model Y Ascension Rear Diffuser, we have kept the Y’s original soul in a more aggressive and premium package. In this, case the original Tesla Model Y has a unique rear diffuser line that dips down in the center to encapsulate the tow hitch cover and we wanted to carry that design DNA into a more aggressive and track-focused rear diffuser by maintaining the original design but moving it upward to give the diffuser the visual weight of being much lower than the original diffuser. We have also created a side profile that also provides a lower visual weighting for the Y to bring the bottom of the rear fascia inline with the side skirts and let the disrupted air from the rear wheel well and tire flow back cleanly around the rear of the vehicle.
When paired with the Unplugged Performance Tesla Model Y front fascia (bumper) and the Unplugged Performance Tesla Model Y High Efficiency Trunk Spoiler it creates a unique aerodynamics package for the “world’s fastest SUV.”
Diffuser package includes:
- Rear Diffuser (aka Rear Fascia Lower) in Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber
- Rear Tow Hook Cover in Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber
- Rear Hitch Cover in Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber
This product replaces the following Tesla original parts:
- REAR FASCIA, LOWER 1494006-00-B
- COVER TOW HITCH 1494009-00-A
- TOW HITCH COVER 1494009-00-B
UP Carbon parts are engineered using advanced prepreg-autoclave technology with our proprietary dry-carbon-kevlar backing layer. This superior method, with resin integrated during production, delivers exceptional strength-to-weight performance compared to traditional wet-layup or vacuum infusion methods.
Finish Options
- Gloss Base Coat: Showcases the carbon weave pattern with a glossy finish
- Satin Base Coat: Offers a refined, contemporary aesthetic
Base Coat Information
Our parts feature a base coat finish that displays the carbon fiber weave. These finishes serve as a foundation and can be enhanced through professional clear coating or protection film services at your local automotive facility. As these are base coat finishes, warranty coverage excludes all cosmetic outcomes including UV-related fading, discoloration, scratches, rock chips, and finish degradation.
Warranty Coverage
- 5 year structural warranty on fitment and functionality for the original owner.
- Base coat finishes are provided as-is as a no-cost time-saver to prepare the parts for recommended clearcoat or paint protection.
- Compatible with recommended professional clear coating and paint protection services.
- Warranty does not cover visual degradation or discoloration from UV or other damage for unprotected parts.

NOTES:
- This product requires the original Tesla rear reflectors but does NOT include them as we anticipate you will reuse your existing reflectors. If you need to purchase the reflectors due to damage incurred to your vehicle please purchase them (LAMP ASY, REAR REFLEX, LEFT HAND 1495817-00 and/or LAMP ASY, REAR REFLEX, LEFT HAND 1495817-00) as needed before installing.
- Customers worried about potential rock chips in the gloss clear coat are recommended to install paint protection film before installation. There is no warranty on visual damage from rocks or other road debris and the rear fascia is located in an area where they will sustain regular impacts. The original parts are made of plastic in this area to reduce road debris damage. Carbon fiber is much more susceptible to this sort of surface damage. The effectiveness of the diffuser will not be degraded by visual blemishes.
- Due to the height of the Model Y, the effectiveness of any ground effects is largely negated by the ride height. Customers looking to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle through this modification may not see significant gains at reasonable ride heights.
- Professional installation is highly recommended.

What warranty backs it?
There is a 5-year structural warranty on fitment and functionality for the original owner. Cosmetic outcomes are excluded on unprotected parts, which matters here because the rear fascia lives in a rock-chip zone. The base coat is provided as-is so you can clear coat or wrap it. We recommend paint protection film before installation specifically because of where this part sits on the car.
Is drilling required to fit it?
It installs in the factory location as a replacement fascia rather than requiring holes cut into the body, but it is still a full lower-fascia swap that we recommend a professional handle. The complexity is in removing the OEM fascia and transferring your reflectors, not in modifying the car permanently. If you want a purely bolt-on reversible rear piece instead, the trunk spoiler is the simpler route.
Is this a real diffuser or a cover that sticks over the stock one?
It is a full replacement rear diffuser, not a stick-on cover. It swaps out the OEM lower rear fascia entirely and includes carbon hitch and tow hook covers so you keep towing and track functionality. That is a meaningful difference from cosmetic diffuser wraps: this piece replaces the factory part and carries the design into a more aggressive, track-focused shape while keeping the Model Y’s rear lines. It is also one of the three pieces in the 2020-2025 carbon aero package if you want the matched front-to-rear set.
Which Tesla parts does it replace?
It replaces three factory pieces: the rear fascia lower (1494006-00-B), the tow hitch cover (1494009-00-A), and the tow hitch cover (1494009-00-B). It reuses your original rear reflectors, which are not included, since most owners still have theirs on the car. If yours are damaged, buy replacement reflectors before you start so the install goes cleanly in one pass.
Will this diffuser noticeably improve aerodynamics on my Model Y?
Honestly, at a normal Model Y ride height the aero gain is limited. The car sits tall enough that ground effects are largely negated, so if pure efficiency is your goal you may not see significant numbers. This piece is primarily a visual and construction upgrade that carries the Ascension design language to the rear. Lowering the car is what unlocks more from any underbody aero.
Will this diffuser bolt to my Juniper, or only the earlier rear bumper?
It is built for the 2020 to 2025 first-generation Model Y rear fascia, matching the factory diffuser line that dips in the center around the tow hitch cover. It is not shaped for the 2026+ Juniper. Confirm your generation before ordering, because the mounting and surfaces are specific to the earlier car’s rear bodywork and the Tesla part numbers it replaces.
Should I install this myself or have a shop do it?
Professional installation is highly recommended. This is a full rear fascia replacement rather than a bolt-on trim piece, so it involves more than snapping something into place. Our Hawthorne team can handle it and quote you an appointment if you are in the Los Angeles area. Getting the panel gaps and reflector reuse right is where a professional earns their keep on this one.
How is the carbon made and how tough is it?
The diffuser, tow hook cover, and hitch cover are all prepreg carbon fiber, built in an autoclave with our dry-carbon-kevlar backing and integrated resin for strong strength-to-weight. That said, carbon is more susceptible to surface damage than the factory plastic, and this sits low where rocks hit. The aero effectiveness is not degraded by chips, but PPF before install protects the finish.
Gloss or satin carbon for the diffuser?
You choose gloss or satin at checkout. Gloss shows a deep, high-shine weave; satin is more matte and understated. Both are base coats displaying the carbon, and both benefit from clear coat or paint protection film given how low the diffuser sits. If you plan to protect one finish more aggressively, gloss shows chips more readily, so many owners add PPF to a gloss diffuser.
Does it work with the front fascia and trunk spoiler as a set?
Yes. It was designed to pair with the Model Y front fascia and the high-efficiency trunk spoiler to build a coordinated aero look, the same direction we took on the car we campaigned as the world’s fastest SUV. Running the rear diffuser alongside a matched front piece keeps the styling balanced rather than aggressive only at one end.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.Â
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days. Larger items like body kits or bumpers may ship via freight carriers with curbside delivery; customers will be contacted to schedule a delivery window. International shipping is available to most countries, with shipping costs calculated at checkout. Delivery times abroad vary, generally ranging from 5 to 16 business days depending on destination. Import duties or taxes are the customer’s responsibility. To ensure a smooth shipping experience, provide accurate contact information during checkout. For specific questions or shipping quotes, Unplugged Performance’s support team is available to assist.
