Tesla Model 3 High Downforce Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler
$995.00
With the addition of a gurney flap, the “High-Efficiency” is transformed into a “High Downforce” version; a trunk spoiler optimized for racing use. The High Downforce version includes the efficiency wing and the attachable gurney flap (which can be installed at the race track and removed for the drive home using VHB double-sided tape). Using the latest in aero simulation and CAD technology, we engineered a spoiler that looks great, is simple to install (no drilling), doesn’t impede the rearward visibility of a driver, and most importantly, reduces overall drag!
The gurney flap’s shape, in combination with the base spoiler’s highly-efficient shape, creates a dramatic improvement in performance. After installation of the gurney, increases of 160.9% in rear downforce are seen, representing an improvement of 464% over the OEM spoiler available on the Performance trim level. In addition to the dramatic increases in downforce, the design actually reduces Model 3’s total vehicle drag by 0.1% versus a vehicle equipped without the OEM Performance rear spoiler—patent pending.
- Produced from autoclaved dry carbon fiber to help keep overall weight low, while maintaining high-rigidity
- Installation of both the rear spoiler, as well as a the gurney flap are via ultra-strong automotive-grade 3M double-sided tape for easy installation and removal, with no modification to the vehicle necessary
- Available in either a gloss clearcoat or matte clearcoat finish [visible carbon fiber] (can be easily paint-matched to your Model 3 by your local body shop)

What turns the High-Efficiency spoiler into the High Downforce version?
A gurney flap. Adding the flap to the efficient base spoiler transforms it into a trunk spoiler optimized for racing use. The flap’s shape combined with the base spoiler’s efficient profile creates a dramatic jump in rear downforce. The High Downforce package includes both the efficiency wing and the attachable gurney flap, so you get the full racing setup in one box. For even more rear downforce, the Dual Rear Carbon Fiber Spoiler Set steps up to a two-plane wing.
How much downforce does the gurney flap add?
After installing the gurney, rear downforce increases by 160.9%, which works out to a 464% improvement over the OEM spoiler on the Performance trim. Remarkably, the design still reduces the Model 3’s total vehicle drag by 0.1% versus a car without the OEM Performance rear spoiler. Big downforce gains without a drag penalty, which is the whole appeal of this shape. Patent pending.
Can I remove the gurney flap for street driving?
Yes, and that flexibility is built in. The gurney flap attaches with VHB double-sided tape so you can add it at the track and take it off for the drive home, running the base efficiency spoiler day to day. Both the spoiler and the flap mount with tape and need no drilling. It is a genuinely dual-purpose piece: race trim on the weekend, clean spoiler on the commute.
Which Model 3 does this trunk spoiler fit?
It is designed for the Tesla Model 3, mounting to the trunk lid with automotive-grade 3M tape and no modification to the car. Check your specific year against the listing, since this is the pre-refresh spoiler family rather than a 2024+ Highland-specific part. Our team can confirm fitment for your car if you are unsure before ordering.
Is this a DIY install?
It is. Both the spoiler and the gurney flap install with ultra-strong 3M tape, no drilling, and the spoiler does not block the driver’s rearward view. Home installation is realistic with clean surface prep. Prefer a professional fit near Los Angeles? Our Hawthorne shop can do it and quote timing. The tape bond is only as good as the prep, so clean the trunk thoroughly first.
High Downforce vs. High Efficiency spoiler: which should I buy?
Choose High Downforce if you track the car and want maximum rear grip, since the gurney flap delivers a 160.9% downforce increase and comes off for the street. Choose the High Efficiency spoiler if range and a subtle look matter more, since it prioritizes the 6.3% drag reduction. The High Downforce piece is really the efficiency spoiler plus the option to add track downforce.
Does it hurt my range to run the gurney flap?
Barely, if at all. Even with the gurney installed the design reduces total vehicle drag by 0.1% versus a car with no OEM Performance spoiler, so highway efficiency is essentially unchanged while downforce climbs. Remove the flap and you are back to the pure efficiency spoiler. It is unusual to get this much added downforce without paying for it at the charger.
What finishes are available for the High Downforce spoiler?
It comes in a gloss clearcoat or a satin clearcoat over visible carbon fiber, and either can be paint-matched to your Model 3 by a local body shop if you would rather it blend in. The carbon is autoclaved dry carbon fiber, chosen to keep weight low while staying rigid. Pick gloss for shine, satin for a flatter race look, or paint-match to hide it entirely.
Will a tape-on spoiler void my Tesla warranty?
No. A spoiler mounted with 3M tape does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act requires Tesla to prove the part caused a specific failure before denying a claim, and a bonded trunk spoiler does not intersect a warrantable system. Since it needs no drilling and lifts off cleanly, going back to stock for a dealer visit is quick.
How is it built and warrantied?
The spoiler and its gurney flap are built from prepreg carbon over a dry-carbon-kevlar backing, resin cured in during production so the part runs lighter and stiffer than a wet-layup piece. The first owner gets a 5 year warranty on fitment and function. The visible carbon arrives as a base coat for clear coat or protection film, so UV fade and chips on unprotected areas are excluded.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days. Larger items like body kits or bumpers may ship via freight carriers with curbside delivery; customers will be contacted to schedule a delivery window. International shipping is available to most countries, with shipping costs calculated at checkout. Delivery times abroad vary, generally ranging from 5 to 16 business days depending on destination. Import duties or taxes are the customer’s responsibility. To ensure a smooth shipping experience, provide accurate contact information during checkout. For specific questions or shipping quotes, Unplugged Performance’s support team is available to assist.
