The Unplugged Performance Model 3 Ascension is about individualism. It’s about creating the perfect balance of style, performance and luxury to suit a Model 3 owner’s needs and desires. While some lean more into performance with the Ascension-R, some take an OEM+ approach to make their daily commutes more spirited, better looking, and more comfortable.
This Ascension Model 3, based on the Performance variant, did just that. From the unique exterior upgrades, a revamped suspension, and front brakes equivalent to a supercar’s, to the UP X BBS wheels and subtle interior enhancements, this Model 3 turns heads with it’s individualistic approach.
Front and Rear Aero and UP X BBS Wheels
The heart of the Model 3 Ascension is the exterior aero kit. At the front, the Ascension Front Fascia offers a redesigned full-bumper replacement that improves exterior looks and utilizes factory fog lights and mounting. At the tail end of the car, an Ascension Rear Fascia has been applied with optional carbon fiber diffuser fins. A High Efficiency Spoiler, made in collaboration with Koenigsegg Advanced Manufacturing, is fitted to the trunk spoiler and is CFD tested to reduce drag and effectively improve range. Keeping the carbon fiber bits exposed, the remainder of the body is wrapped by Bulletproof Auto Spa in Hawthorne, CA in Avery Spark Red for a unique and head-turning look.
This Model 3 Ascension rides on 20” UP X BBS Flugplatz wheels in Gloss Black, which translates from German as “airfield”, appropriately named after the jump at the Nürburgring. The UP X BBS Flugplatz wheels measure 20×9 with a +32 offset, front and rear, and are designed specifically for the Model 3 application and, here, are applied with Unplugged Performance Aluminum lug nuts in black to complete the package. Connecting the car to the road the wheels are wrapped in a set of Yokohama ADVAN Apex V601 tires sized in a square fitment of 255/40R20 at each corner.
An All-around Improved Suspension with Brakes Suitable for a Supercar
A “better” suspension is subjective to the user and their application. Because the owner uses their Model 3 Ascension as a daily driver a comfortable ride was desired while also improving the performance capability for weekend canyon runs. The Unplugged Performance Luxury Pro Coilovers were installed at all four corners, adjusted to a sporty height that reduces the wheel tire-fender gap and lowers the center of gravity. With damping adjustability, a softer, more supple ride can be achieved for daily commutes and can easily be dialed into a sporty stiffer ride for spirited drives and occasional track days.
Unplugged Performance Front Upper Control Arms and Rear Camber Arms were installed to achieve a perfect alignment to mitigate excessive tire wear, and can also be adjusted to allow for better on-street and on-track grip performance. To round out the suspension upgrades a set of front and rear Unplugged Performance Adjustable Sway Bars have been installed to reduce body roll and enhance rotation in the twisties.
There is a reason most hypercars come with carbon ceramic brakes, their ability to resist heat at extreme levels and significantly lighter weight drastically reduces brake fade and thus stopping distances. To get the most out of the Model 3 Ascension an Unplugged Performance Superlight Carbon Ceramic Big Brake Kit has been installed at the front to ensure the ultimate in safety and performance. This kit is comprised of 15.5” carbon ceramic, up from the factory 14”, 6-piston Unplugged Performance-branded calipers, a set of UP street & track pads, and stainless steel brake lines.
Adding Luxury From Any Seat
To enhance the interior experience of the Model 3, the Ascension includes a full Alcantara headliner upgrade kit, the same material used by high-end luxury cars. It also turns the headliner from gray to black which makes for a more sporty and unified experience from any seat in the car.
