There are certain vehicles that look like they belong somewhere beyond the pavement. The Tesla Cybertruck is one of them.
Its stainless-steel body, sharp geometric profile, and unconventional proportions already make it feel like something pulled from a distant future. For this build, we wanted to take that idea even further by creating a Cybertruck inspired by the vast desert landscapes, industrial machinery, and expedition vehicles seen in Dune.
Of course, appearance was only one part of the project.
This was never meant to be a show truck built simply to turn heads in a parking lot. We wanted to create something that could leave the asphalt behind and confidently explore dry lakebeds, desert trails, rocky terrain, and the types of environments that would quickly expose the limitations of a stock vehicle.
With that goal in mind, we equipped the truck with a comprehensive selection of upgrades from our UP INVINCIBLEĀ® program.
With all of that said, here is a closer look at our Dune-inspired Cybertruck.
A Cybertruck Built for the Desert
The exterior transformation immediately gives this Cybertruck a completely different presence.
Finished in a Dune-inspired exterior and equipped with UP INVINCIBLEĀ® upgrades, it represents Unplugged Performance’s relentless pursuit of pushing Tesla performance beyond the edge of the pavement and onto the unexplored. This isn’t a show truck built to turn heads in a parking lot. Every piece of steel armor, every inch of lift, and every beadlock wheel on this build exists to get the Cybertruck off the asphalt and into terrain that would stop a stock truck cold, dry lakebeds, rutted trails, and everything in between. Treat it like any other true off-road truck, because that’s exactly what it’s built to be.
This build is a showcase of our UP INVINCIBLEĀ® program in its truest form: the comprehensive upgrade path that turns a stock Cybertruck into a purpose-built adventure machine. INVINCIBLE takes the Cybertruck’s factory plastic components and forges them into steel, replaces cast parts with stronger alternatives, and pairs that added durability with a lifted suspension, forged beadlock wheels, integrated lighting, and expedition-ready storage. The result is a Cybertruck that’s just as composed on the daily commute as it is hundreds of miles from the nearest paved road.
Built on the Stage 3 Expedition and Pursuit Packages
This build starts from two of the most comprehensive packages in the UP INVINCIBLEĀ® lineup. The Stage 3 Expedition Package is the foundation, bundling off-road protection, added utility, integrated lighting, and premium carbon-fiber components into one cohesive upgrade path. It’s the package we point customers to when they want the full INVINCIBLE transformation in a single step, rather than piecing components together over time.
Alongside it, the Stage 3 Pursuit Package focuses on how the truck stops and handles, sharpening braking performance and giving the driver more confident, predictable control, critical once a Cybertruck is carrying the added weight and capability that comes with a full INVINCIBLE build.
Front-End Protection and Lighting
Up front, the factory fascia is replaced with a UP INVINCIBLEĀ® steel bumper built to take real impacts, from trail obstacles to everyday parking-lot mishaps, with integrated auxiliary lighting wired in from the start rather than bolted on as an afterthought.
A steel bull bar mounts to that bumper for another layer of frontal protection and doubles as a mounting point for its own dedicated LED light, useful for winching, trail navigation, or simply standing out after dark. Above it, a satin dry carbon-fiber hood system carries an integrated 50-inch LED light bar, built directly into the hood rather than sitting awkwardly on top of it, keeping the profile clean while adding serious forward-facing illumination for off-road driving at night.
Rear-End Utility and Towing
On the back of the truck, a heavy-duty UP INVINCIBLEĀ® steel rear bumper replaces the factory unit and brings a proper integrated hitch for towing, along with its own lighting and a dual swing-arm system for mounting gear.
Left- and right-side rear bumper swing arms attach to that system and open up expandable storage for items like recovery gear, fuel cans, or a spare tire, turning the rear of the Cybertruck into a functional expedition platform rather than just a styling piece. It’s the kind of setup that makes a long-distance trip manageable instead of a packing puzzle.
Body Armor and Stance
The lower body of any truck takes the brunt of trail damage, and the Cybertruck is no exception, so heavy-duty steel rocker panels shield that vulnerable section from rocks, debris, and scrapes that would otherwise mean expensive body damage.
Its wider stance comes from satin dry carbon-fiber front and rear fender flares, which aren’t just a styling choice: they’re necessary to properly cover the larger wheel-and-tire setup this build runs, while keeping weight in check thanks to the carbon-fiber construction.
Roof Rack and Storage – ready for your next offroad adventure
A four-bar roof rack system dramatically expands what the Cybertruck can carry, from roof-top tents to cargo boxes to recovery boards, while MOLLE side sails add modular mounting points along the sides for additional gear, lighting, or storage accessories. Together, they give the truck genuine expedition capacity without relying on a trailer.
Wheels, Suspension, and Braking
The build rides on lightweight UP-03 Beadlock wheels, sized 20×9 in the front and rear, adorned with a gorgeous Satin Black finish, a design purpose-built for off-road use. The beadlock configuration helps keep the tire seated on the rim under the low-pressure, high-torque conditions where a standard wheel might let the bead slip.
Furthermore, the wheels feature black DLC-coated titanium lug nuts, a small but deliberate detail that sheds weight versus factory hardware while adding a premium, finished look. In addition, we’ve wrapped the beadlock wheels in BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, sized 285/60R20 (please confirm this!), adding that perfect touch for offroading use.
Underneath, CYBRSHOCKS rear secondary shocks improve control and composure across demanding terrain, keeping the truck settled rather than bouncing or wallowing, and a three-way adjustable rear sway bar with polyurethane bushings lets the handling balance be tuned to match the terrain and driving style at any given time. Upgraded front and rear brake pads round out the package, giving the driver added stopping confidence to match everything else the build adds.
Finish: Dune Wrap and Paint Protection
Unplugged Performance isn’t just an upgrade shop, we’re also a premium wrap installer for the Tesla Cybertruck, with dozens of trucks wrapped and finished at our facility. The desert-inspired look on this build comes from a full wrap in FlexiShield Dune paint protection film, and it’s worth understanding what that film actually is.
Unlike a traditional vinyl wrap, FlexiShield is a true colored paint protection film built from thermoplastic polyurethane, so it delivers everything a clear PPF does, guarding against rock chips, road debris, and UV damage, while adding a durable, color-infused top coat on top of it. That construction gives the film genuine self-healing properties: light scratches and swirl marks can disappear on their own with heat, whether that’s from the sun or a heat gun, so the finish keeps looking fresh instead of showing wear after the first rock strike. The film is also formulated to resist hard water spots, acid rain, and solvents, and it won’t yellow or crack over time the way cheaper vinyl wraps eventually do.
On this build, that adds up to a satin desert-sand finish that looks factory-smooth while quietly protecting every panel underneath it from the elements.
The exposed carbon-fiber hood and all four carbon-fiber fenders are finished separately in XPEL clear paint protection film, guarding those premium surfaces from rock chips and road debris without covering up the carbon-fiber weave underneath.
A Decade of Racing and Off-Road Pedigree
Every component on this build was fitted and installed by the Unplugged Performance team, ensuring a Cybertruck that’s just as ready for the daily commute as it is for off-road exploration or a multi-week expedition. That confidence comes from more than a decade spent at the forefront of Tesla performance, on the racetrack and off it, working out of our headquarters in Hawthorne, California, right alongside the Tesla Design Studio.
We host TeslaCorsa, the first-ever Tesla-dedicated trackday, and we regularly run our own Cybertrucks and other Tesla platforms at circuits like Buttonwillow Raceway to prove our suspension and brake components under real racing conditions. We have also been out to King of the Hammers in Johnson Valley, California and the Mint 400, widely considered the toughest off-road race in the country, putting our INVINCIBLE hardware through days of hardcore rock crawling and desert terrain before it ever reaches a customer’s driveway.
It’s that combination, real racing pedigree paired with real off-road testing, that makes Unplugged Performance the most premium destination for Tesla and Cybertruck owners who want a build that’s engineered to perform, not just styled to look the part.
