Nevertheless, there are inherent compromises associated with rubber brake lines, primarily their tendency to expand and contract when subjected to hard braking maneuvers. This expansion leads to a soft and somewhat spongy brake pedal sensation, which, counterintuitively, translates into a reduction in braking effectiveness and responsiveness that can be perceptibly felt.

For optimal performance, we highly recommend pairing these upgraded brake lines with high-temperature racing brake fluid such as Motul RBF 660, PFC RH 665, Endless RF 650, Castrol SRF, or similar racing brake fluids—standard practice for any brake upgrade. While these brake lines function effectively with OEM Dot 4 fluid, it’s important to note that under performance driving conditions, the OEM fluid tends to produce a soft pedal feel, irrespective of the robustness of your brake lines.

If I plan to buy the carbon ceramic big brake kit, do I still need these lines?
No. Customers buying our Carbon Ceramic Big Brake Kit for the 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid do not need to add this line set, because those lines are already included with the kit. Buy this set on its own only if you are keeping your factory calipers and rotors.
Are these brake lines specific to my 2021+ Model X, or a universal set?
They are vehicle-specific for the 2021+ Model X and Model X Plaid, developed to follow the factory line routing for a proper fit rather than sold as a one-size cut-to-length kit. Verify your car is a 2021 or newer Model X before ordering so the set matches your hard-line layout.
Will I feel a difference on the street, or only on track?

Do I still need special brake fluid if I install stainless lines?

What is involved in fitting these lines on a Model X?
The lines follow factory routing and bolt to the OEM hard-line junctions, so the fitment itself is clean. The demanding part is what comes after: you have opened the hydraulic system, so it must be bled thoroughly, and any trapped air leaves you with a softer pedal than stock. We recommend professional installation for that reason. Our Hawthorne shop or an authorized installer can fit and bleed the set correctly.
