Development of Model 3 Performance Aero kit
Our aero kit for the 2024 Model 3 Performance is designed using CFD to enhance performance while preserving Tesla’s renowned efficiency. With a Cd of just 0.219, Tesla sets the standard, and our goal is to work with that foundation without disturbing it.
Through several refinements, the kit now delivers 426 lbf (1896N) of downforce, shifting the car from net lift to substantial downforce with a minimal drag increase of just 1.93%. This is achieved through advanced aerodynamic techniques, such as splitter tunnels that enhance front ground effect—features rarely seen on street-legal vehicles. Importantly, no permanent modifications are required, making these upgrades possible even for leased cars.
For those who wants to fully maintain factory drag coefficient, we offer a solution: the rear efficiency trunk lid spoiler instead of wing. While the combination does not produce as much downforce, it more than neutralizes the cars lift without increasing drag. All while giving the Model 3 Performance a presence to match its incredible performance
Overview
Streamlines represent the trajectory of select air particles around the vehicle, providing insight into flow behavior. All visualizations in this article use streamlines directly exported from CFD simulations. While the overall flow is minimally altered, our refinements focus on optimizing key areas to extract maximum performance. The kit enhances downforce in areas that already have high-pressure air, such as above the grille, over the side inlets, and on top of the front splitter, but also introduces entirely new shapes like the front undertray. Airflow management around the wheels and side skirts is critical for reducing drag and offsetting the added drag from downforce-generating surfaces. Additionally, placing a wing that is highly optimized to minimally disturb Tesla’s refined wake is crucial for maintaining efficiency.
Front Racing Diffuser/Splitter:
The front splitter directs high-pressure air and lowers the undertray closer to the ground, generating downforce by channeling air over the car and creating suction beneath the splitter via the Venturi effect. The undertray sits lower and more parallel to the ground compared to the stock splitter, accelerating airflow and reducing pressure. Splitter diffusers (ramps) inside the wheels further enhance its effectiveness.
To minimize added drag, the splitter is more aggressive at the sides in front of the wheels, reducing the frontal area and deflecting air around the tires. The airflow along the center remains strong, maintaining the ground eEect created by the nearly flat floor of the car.
As mentioned, the “second element” frame around the grille provides structural support while contributing to downforce by extending the surface above the intake slightly forward and down.
Note: This component drastically reduces front ground clearance increasing the risk of damage from driveways, parking stumps, curbs, etc.
Undertray
The leading edge of the front splitter is rounded to prevent flow separation as air moves around the stagnation point. The bottom edge is more rounded than the top, lowering the pressure beneath the car due to the Bernoulli effect, effectively shaping the splitter to function like an inverted airfoil.
The underside of the splitter also features corner deflectors that efficiently redirect airflow around the wheels, reducing drag and managing turbulence. While the original deflectors generated lift, these redesigned deflectors generate downforce by being lowered, reshaped, and enlarged, all while deflecting air around the wheels just as effectively.
Tilting and curving the splitter’s trailing edge upwards is ideal for maximizing low pressure. To achieve some of that effect, we added splitter diffusers (ramps) inside the wheels. These function like a rear diffuser, expanding air, accelerating flow in front of it, and increasing suction. Their placement provides the necessary height and allows air pressure at the end of the channel to escape efficiently through the wheel well. To prevent interference with the suspension, the tunnel gradually tapers out, ending at the same angle as the stock setup. A small gurney flap on the trailing edge remains exposed, ensuring clean airflow over the suspension geometry, as confirmed by CFD simulations. This design adds downforce in a highly efficient way, with no added drag. In fact, all drag from the front splitter comes from pressure-generated downforce on the top surface, despite the bottom being the most effective for generating downforce.
UP Carbon parts are engineered using advanced prepreg-autoclave technology with our proprietary dry-carbon-kevlar backing layer. This superior method, with resin integrated during production, delivers exceptional strength-to-weight performance compared to traditional wet-layup or vacuum infusion methods.

What is the best full body kit for a 2024 Model 3 Performance?
This is the first-ever body kit for the 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance, and it bundles eight UP carbon components developed through CFD for maximum downforce and stability. It covers the car front to back rather than leaving you to assemble pieces one at a time. Everything is prepreg carbon in Satin or Gloss. For a complete, race-derived look on the Performance, this is the flagship option.
Which eight parts are in the Full Aero Kit?
The Front Lip Spoiler, Front Canards, Front Deflectors, Front Racing Diffuser, Side Skirts, Rear Spats, Rear Diffuser Trim, and the Ascension-R Rear Wing. Together they read more like a factory race body kit than a set of add-ons. Each piece is made in high-quality prepreg carbon fiber. Buying the kit is how you get all eight coordinated in one finish.
Does the Full Aero Kit fit any 2024+ Model 3, or only the Performance?
It fits the 2024+ Tesla Model 3 Performance specifically. Tesla designed a Performance-specific front end for that car, and this kit was engineered around it. A Long Range or Rear Wheel Drive 2024+ Model 3 will not accept the full kit because the front geometry differs. If you want carbon for a non-Performance car, the individual pieces that fit those trims are the way to go.
Can I buy the components separately instead of the whole kit?
You can. Every piece in the kit is sold on its own, including the Front Lip Spoiler, the Front Canards, and the Side Skirts. Buying the full kit at $7,995 gets you all eight at once in a matched finish. Piecing it together lets you spread the cost over time. Both routes end at the same car.
Is there a build order if I install the front pieces over time?
Yes, because some front parts depend on others. The Front Lip Spoiler is the prerequisite for the Front Deflectors and the Front Racing Diffuser, so it goes on first. The Canards can go on around it. Plan the front in that sequence and the pieces layer cleanly. The kit gives you everything at once, so a shop can stage it correctly in one visit.
How aggressive does the kit make the car actually look?
The combination looks more like a race-derived body kit than a set of accessories, taking Tesla’s Performance-specific design language further for owners who want a standout car. The front lip, canards, deflectors and racing diffuser sharpen the nose, while the rear spats, diffuser trim and wing finish the tail. It reads as purposeful, not tacked-on. This is the full transformation, not a subtle refresh.
Does the kit add real aero, or is it mostly appearance?
Both. It was designed and engineered through CFD testing for maximum performance and stability, with the front lip, racing diffuser and rear wing built for form and function together. Those pieces improve high-speed stability and cornering grip, making a strong on-track package. The look is the headline, but the aero is real. It is a body kit that earns its shape.
Should this be professionally installed given how many pieces it has?
It is the smart move. With eight components, including the rear wing that drills into the trunk and front parts that stack in a specific order, professional installation gets the alignment and sequence right in one pass. Our Hawthorne team can fit the whole kit and set the wing angle. That is a lot of carbon to align by eye at home. Let a shop stage it properly.
What finishes are available for the Full Aero Kit?
The entire kit is offered in a choice of Satin or Gloss, and every one of the eight prepreg carbon pieces is finished to match. So the whole car reads as one cohesive carbon theme rather than a mix. Pick the finish that suits your paint. Ordering as a kit is the cleanest way to guarantee the pieces line up.
Can I add functional suspension or brakes to match this aero build?
Absolutely, and many owners do. A car with this much aero pairs naturally with chassis upgrades like the Stage 2 adjustable suspension package to match grip front and rear. The aero handles airflow; suspension and brakes handle what the tires do with it. Build the whole car, not the bodywork alone. The two sides complement each other on track.

Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
What are the shipping options and times?
Unplugged Performance processes orders quickly, typically within 1–2 business days after placement. For U.S. customers, orders under $50 usually ship via FedEx SmartPost with an estimated delivery time of 2–7 business days. Larger items like body kits or bumpers may ship via freight carriers with curbside delivery; customers will be contacted to schedule a delivery window.
