Tesla Model 3 Autocross-Spec Adjustable Shock Set
Unplugged Performance suspension engineering has been proven around the world to consistently win races. After winning time attack events and a wide variety of organized motorsports events we’ve now set our sights on autocross. Our record winning suspension has been adapted and optimized to satisfy SCCA autocross street class regulations. SCCA’s Model 3 autocross classes such as “super street” and “super street r” restrict modifications. As a result, we are offering a SCCA Autocross Rulebook-compliant 32 way adjustable shocks that have been specifically tuned to extract maximum performance while retaining the factory springs. In keeping with SCCA regulations, these shocks are not height-adjustable and are purpose-built for the factory springs. The shocks are valved with daily driving as well as SCCA and similar rule set competitions in mind with perfect paring for the factory Model 3 springs. The 30 ways of adjustment offer a wide range in tuning for both racing and for daily driving comfort.
Daily Use
We recommend these set on soft settings for every day driving. Aside from being easily and quickly adjustable, the overall ride quality greatly improves over potholes and rough road surfaces. Feedback on the first day of install says it all: “I hit a pothole on the interchange that would usually be a loud bang and shudder through the car but now it was just a confident German-sounding thump. That alone is a big deal.”
SCCA Autocross Winning Combination
We recommend pairing these with our 3-way adjustable rear sway bar for the ultimate SCCA compliant suspension upgrades.
User’s Voice
After testing Unplugged’s new autocross shocks I can say with confidence that they do an amazing job of controlling nose dive, squat, and making body roll far better controlled. In addition to substantially better handling dynamics, potholes and sharp bumps are handled so much more competently now. The jarring bang that shakes through the whole car from potholes is now more like a confident German thump with the car staying much better composed.
Straight out of the box these shocks have been a fundamental improvement to the vehicle’s handling and they are also far more communicative about the road surface than the stock shocks ever were. I find them to be far better composed over large bumps or sudden changes of direction, and I even feel a noticeable improvement in panic braking situations.
So while these new Unplugged Performance Autocross Shocks are engineered for racing I would consider them a major improvement in street driving dynamics as well. Unplugged has finally made a Tesla with stock suspension geometry and ride height handle like the world-class sports sedan it should be.

SPECIFICATIONS:
- Damping Adjustable – One easy to use 32-way adjustable control simultaneously adjusts the ratio of Rebound and Compression damping. Rebound damping regulates the speed at which your shock bounces back from an impact (pothole, bump, hard cornering). By adjusting rebound damping, one can customize the ride and handling of Model 3.
- Easy to access external adjustment knob included for fast access in the frunk.
- Every shock is custom engineered utilizing our racing background and partnerships (our parent company is Bulletproof Automotive with a history since 2000 of building award-winning street and track cars). The coilovers utilize high grade internal technology and components sourced from Ohlins and other top factories (these are unique Unplugged Performance engineered coilovers that we have developed, they are not Ohlins products and do not use DFV). After assembly, they are placed on a shock dyno to validate the exact results.
- High flow D port pistons + super low friction seals and rod guide bushings.
- High-end monotube design – Lighter and more consistent performance when driven hard. No cost-cutting measures utilizing less expensive twin tube.
- Progressive bump stops.
- Retains the factory upper damper mounts to mitigate the transmission of excessive noise and vibration into the passenger cabin
- Like our Dual Rate Lowering Springs, the Unplugged Performance Coilover Suspension Kit is a simple and straightforward installation onto your Tesla Model 3 (about 3 hours)
- Assembled in USA
- Rebuildable and re-valvable in USA
- This product is not officially endorsed by SCCA and we have no relationship with SCCA or its affiliates. It is designed to comply with the 2020 rulebook but we cannot guarantee that it will be officially allowed in all events and classes worldwide. Compliance is at the discretion of local event officials.

Can you autocross a Tesla Model 3 competitively?
Yes, and the instant torque with a low center of gravity makes it a genuine weapon between cones. The catch is classing: street-tier autocross classes restrict suspension changes, often requiring factory springs and banning height-adjustable coilovers. That is why we built this shock set around the stock Model 3 springs. It has since been discontinued, and we now point autocross drivers to our Sport Suspension Kit.
Why would anyone upgrade shocks without lowering the car?
Because damping, not ride height, is where composure comes from. These 32-way adjustable monotube shocks were valved to control nose dive, squat, and body roll on the factory springs, improving course times and pothole manners at the same time. Rules-limited classes reward exactly this approach. Lowering helps a car too, but it is the first thing street-class rulebooks take away.
Why was the Autocross-Spec shock set discontinued?
Unplugged Performance retired the set, and the product page now lists it as discontinued and no longer available. Its role is covered today by the shocks-only configuration of our Sport Suspension Kit, which keeps the factory springs, the same class-friendly logic this set pioneered. The page stays up for reference and for existing owners. Confirm your class rules before ordering anything.
Are adjustable shocks allowed in SCCA street-class autocross?
Under the 2020 SCCA rulebook this set was designed around, yes: street classes like Super Street permitted damper upgrades while requiring factory springs, which is exactly the box the Autocross-Spec shock set was built to fit. We have no affiliation with SCCA, compliance was always at local officials’ discretion, and rulebooks change, so verify the current year’s rules for your class before relying on any of it.
I am buying a used Autocross-Spec shock set. What am I getting?
A monotube damper set with high-flow D port pistons and super low friction seals, 32-way combined rebound and compression adjustment through an external knob reachable in the frunk, progressive bump stops, and retained factory upper mounts to keep cabin noise down. Every set was validated on a shock dyno after assembly in the USA, with valving paired specifically to the factory Model 3 springs, so plan to run stock springs with them.
How long does it take to install a set of these shocks?
About 3 hours, per the product documentation, since the shocks install in place of the factory dampers with no permanent modifications. That simple bolt-in character was part of the appeal for competitors who wanted to stay close to stock. Damping changes afterward take seconds from the frunk-accessible knob rather than requiring wheel removal or ramps.
Autocross shocks versus coilovers for a street-class Model 3?
For street-class competition the shocks won by default, because height-adjustable coilovers with aftermarket springs typically bump you into modified classes against far more heavily built cars. Coilovers like our Sport Pro kit are faster hardware in absolute terms. Class strategy decides which is actually quicker to a trophy. Run what your class rewards.
Were these shocks harsh as a daily setup?
The opposite, on soft settings. Owners reported potholes that used to bang through the whole car becoming a single controlled thump, with better composure over large bumps and improved confidence in panic braking. Racing valving does not have to mean punishment. The 32-way range gave a wide daily-comfort band at one end and competition control at the other.
What did Unplugged Performance recommend pairing with these for autocross?
Our three-way adjustable rear sway bar, which remains available in the 2017-2023 Model 3 sway bar set. A stiffer adjustable rear bar lets you tune rotation and trim understeer between runs without touching the springs, keeping the package inside street-class rules. That shocks-plus-rear-bar combination was also sold together as our Autocross Package.
I own a set of these. Can they still be serviced?
Yes. US-based rebuild and re-valve service was designed in from the start, so existing sets can be refreshed rather than retired. Contact our team with your setup details and we can advise on rebuild logistics. Keeping discontinued products serviceable is part of why we build monotube hardware this way in the first place.
Will upgrading my brakes void the Tesla warranty?
Tesla’s warranty covers factory-installed parts, but it does not automatically void your warranty if you install aftermarket components like Unplugged Performance brake kits. Under U.S. law (Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), Tesla must prove that an aftermarket part caused a failure in order to deny warranty coverage. Our parts are engineered to work harmoniously with Tesla OEM Brake systems and can be professionally installed by Unplugged Performance in Hawthorne, CA or by an authorized installer to minimize risk. That said, any damage directly caused by misuse or improper installation may not be covered. We recommend retaining all factory parts so you can revert to stock if needed. Many Tesla owners enjoy peace of mind by using Unplugged Performance products, which are extensively tested and installed by certified professionals. If warranty concerns are top-of-mind, our team can help clarify compatibility and installation best practices to ensure a worry-free experience.
What does the Unplugged Performance product warranty cover?
Unplugged Performance offers a comprehensive warranty on all parts and installations performed by our certified technicians. Warranty coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship on items including lowering springs, coilovers, big brake kits, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, shocks, and more. Should any covered part fail under normal use or display premature wear, we will repair or replace it at no additional cost—assuming the component was installed by us or at one of our authorized partners.
This warranty is valid for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, excluding consumable products like brake pads, rotors, and tires, starting from the installation date. Coverage extends to labor for warranty repairs when performed by Unplugged Performance or an authorized installer. It does not cover damage resulting from misuse, accidents, off‑road use, improper installation not done by us, or modifications that aren’t factory-approved.
To file a warranty claim, simply contact our service team. We’ll guide you through inspection, shipping (if needed), and repair or replacement logistics. transparencia and top-tier support are what you can expect from Unplugged.
Will installing Unplugged Performance parts void my Tesla warranty?
Installing aftermarket parts does not automatically void your Tesla warranty. Under the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act (www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/01/ftc-validates-right-to-install-aftermarket-parts), a manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply because you installed aftermarket parts. Tesla must prove that the aftermarket part caused the specific failure in question to deny a warranty claim. UP recommends retaining all factory parts to allow reverting to stock if needed.
